I think in his heart Jon is still chasing another hit for the band, to prove he's still relevant. Deep down that's what he wants. He just doesn't know how to get it. The music scene has changed around him and he doesn't really know how to fit in musically. More than anything he wants to be contemporary, but he just can't quite seem to get there anymore. Thing is, I think if Jon did a solo album full of songs straight from his heart, no Shanks, no confines of what the band is, he would be surprised about how well it would be received...push the envelope like he did with Destination Anywhere, and not just offer us the same old same from the band...

No.

He didn't when he had the chance (after Richie's departure), I really don't see why he would now that the "new" band is formed.

Plus, I don't think his new contract with UMG includes the option of a solo album.

A few one off song for a soundtrack/compilation? Yeah that's certainly possible and more than welcome.

Yep, what I think too. He has had 21 years to make a solo album and I don't think he is interested in one. Whatever he wants to say, he can say within the band now.

Yeah, although the tone of the movie would influence the tone of the music.

PS: I’ve wanted him to do a Disney movie ever since Elton did Lion King.

Given his vocal struggles - and the absence of Richie - Jon should have gone solo in 2014. We now have Jon Bon Jovi and the B street Band, which hurts their/his legacy in my opinion.

Which basically means that Bon Jovi was mainly about Jon + Richie and once this fragile balance is shaken, the band is not the band anymore. Somebody has said it here before so it's not originally my idea but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

That is true, but Jon Bon Jovi as a solo artist does not carry the same weight as the "Bon Jovi" brand as far as touring is concerned, so he'd be forced to do it on a smaller scale.

Unfortunately for us diehards, Jon chose wallet over legacy. I don't blame him for it, but let's not kid ourselves that it is anything else.

Forget the fake no 1 due to ticket sales but if Bon Jovi's album sales are in decline then a solo album just wouldnt sell enough to warrant release.

Id love him to release another solo album to the standard of BOG but that song writter was from another life time ago.

I think Disney is wise enough not to hire Jon given his popularity and relevance nowadays. I still think that there's a chance but it would be so little.
