Oh dear . . . if this is what it takes, then I definitely vote for no more big hits!

The next decent album'll be in 2015!

Look at the 10 year album pattern:

1995 - These Days

2005 - Have A Nice Day

2015 - These Nice Days?

Makes perfect sense. I look forward to (It's Hard Letting) You Go Home, that's the next No 1!

I wouldnt like it because it would be too much of an unatural pact BUT I think both are very talented ...I am probably weird (well I guess ) but I like what Gaga and Eminem do , though a jovi association would be too much for me

I love Eminem and respect Lady Gaga, but both of them know a duet with Bon Jovi would be career suicide. For them.

Anyways, I think as far as new material goes, Bon Jovi is finished. I loved the Circle and still readily defend it, but judging from overall fan response and how quickly the band gave in to said fan response, they will not explore that direction again. And if songs like "This is Our House" are any indication, the alternatives the band may have in mind are pretty depressing. I think, at best, a song might do similar to WWBTF- not really make any impact whatsoever but occasionally blip on the radio radar. That song will no doubt be a clone of WWBTF, which was a clone of LH, which was a clone of HAND, which was a clone of Bounce, which was a clone of IML....

But otherwise, unless they put out something really ballsy there is simply no way this band will ever garner attention for anything ever again.

Yup, gotta blame it on the music industry, I love this digital era we live in, but at the same time hate it because artists just don't chart well or sell music anymore. Sure, people are still buying, but at $1.29 something a song on iTunes, people just cherry pick songs off an album instead of buying the whole album. This will obviously affect album sales. On the other hand, you got sites like YouTube that can get you millions of hits on a video, so at least there's still promotion going on! Can't rely on radio/MTV/VH1 anymore sadly.

I predict by 2020 (probably even sooner) there will be no more CDs or physical media. Everything will be digital. Which will suck, because I like collecting physical copies of albums/singles!

I'm sure they could've easily strung together a few more if they didn't hate eachother's guts as when they got together they still had chemistry, a la their contributions to Ringo's records, George's awesome slide guitar on How Do You Sleep and Ringo's drums on John and George's debuts.

However, even if they had split up, I doubt they'd have played live much. John and George did one tour each in the 70s and clearly didn't really like playing live. John was planning a tour when he died though, so who knows.

You are right about the success of the early solo albums. In this respect, yes, they could easily have had a few more big hits as a band in the early 70īs.

But letīs think of Lennon who undoubtedly represents the soul of the Beatles to many. After Imagine, there werenīt too many really memorable efforts and for the latter part of the decade, he stayed silent. McCartney released an enormous amount of music (with and without The Wings) but to be honest, a big part of it is mediocre at its best, at least compared to the masterpieces of The Beatles or McCartney himself. According to the circumstances in the Beatles camp in their latter stages, Iīd say most of the music The Beatles would have made in the 70īs would have been dictated by Paul anyway.

I understand your point, their creative peak wasnīt over by the time the band was finished. Yet I need to stand for what I said in my post. Sooner or later they would have fallen into the nostalgia category with maybe sporadic hits every now and then, not on a regular basis like in the 60īs.

But no one will ever know. We can of course speculate and that can be a lot of fun. If I got one wish that could be fulfilled, Iīd wish they hadnīt broke up and Iīd get to hear all the albums they would have made in the 70īs.

My contribution to the Bon Jovi side of this thread; I don't really care if they have hits or not as long as the music's good. Which it hasn't been for a while.

Yeah I get your point. I think in reality they split up at a good time, and yeah, aside from short bursts of creativity from each after the breakup, they lost steam pretty quickly. I would definitely love to hear what they'd have come up with if they'd have stayed together, but a part of me is thinking that George would never have released the countless great tunes on All Things Must Pass had he been as limited as during his time with The Beatles.

Imagine seeing a Stones-esque Beatles in 2010! That'd be weird.

I don't want to steer the thread too far off-topic, but just wanted to say that I think Band On The Run stands up to almost all The Beatles albums. Amazing record IMO.

I can see it happening in America but not in the UK. The charts are too full of chav music.

That would be weird indeed!

And I agree with you, they split up at a good time. In a way, the breakup was also needed to establish their legendary status. And I agree, Lennon and McCartney wouldnīt have allowed too many Georgeīs songs on band albums, had they stayed together. The breakup was inevitable, if George was ever to be really regocnized as a talented songwriter on his own.

Sorry for leading this thread off topic, though
