At least Bono is trying to do something, and is drawing attention to problems, which would hopefully force politians into doing something. No he probably doesn't know as much as them but he probably has done some research and knows what he is talking about, and he has already done a lot of good in cancellation of debt in third world countries.

I read an article the other day about the Willimas sisters (Venus ans Serena) and their thoughts on the hurricane. Venus said that she found the news depressing and so didn't watch it and so hadn't heard about the hurricane!, and Serena said that she would donate $100 for every ace she served until the end of the year, which is disgusting when you think that so far she has only sreved 2 aces, and of how much she is worth-at the time of the announcement she was wearing a pair of $40,000 earings and said that she had another pair for her next match! Plus people need the money now, not in December!

and you think that the world problems are only solved by knowing macroeconomics? or do you think that those who know macroeconomics are willing to solve any problems?

As i understand it, Bono actually does alot of research on the issues he supports, knows his facts and can actually hold his own in discussions with leaders and specialists in these fields. That said Bono, God bless Him, is one of the biggest dreamers in the world, he has a vision of the way the world could be, and is doing his damndest to get it there. Are all of his goals realistic??? No, but the world needs it's dreamers too. If Bill Gates and Steve Jobs hadn't been dreamers with a vision when they were building computers in the garage then you and I probably wouldn't be having this conversation right now. Imagine a world with no Apple computers or Microsoft.

if you understand macroeconomics you can practise the rules and models, and it can be quite helpful, because often can that explain a few things that's going on in the world.

The world isn't fair, and there is no such thing as justice for a hungry child in africa.
would you like that all chinese families bought themself an audi (what would happen to price of oil, or the price of steel if they did that!)? or are you entitled to fornbidd the third world countries from cutting down the rainforest (which create wellfare in these countries)? no, of course not... but that's what we do... we (you and I, and everyone else in the EU or in the US) don't want the world to be fair, because if we did we wouldn't act like we do.

of course we need dreamers, but still, sometimes he is pushing it a bit to far. I've heard somewhere that during an interview for an canadian radiostation he started talking about things like how stupid the canadian goverment was that didn't send more money and support to africa, instead of talking about U2's new album (correct me if I'm wrong... I've just heard this breifly..)

I don't know the specific interview you are speaking of but Bono is at the end of the day an idealist. I'm not saying he's always right or that he always should push so hard, but you have to give him credit for standing up and speaking out loud for what he believes in.
My only complaint about him is that he sometimes uses the stage where the band are performing as his pulpit for his political beliefs and I feel that's wrong. I much prefer Jon's way of doing this, keeping the two separate.
