According to metallica.com, they had sold over 80 million by 2001, and when you add the sales of St. Anger + others they´re perhaps around 90 million or so.

I just read on their home page, as of 2003 they'd sold around 85 million. So, unless they sold 115 million in the past 2 years, that list is incorrect.

Another site says they've sold over 250 million.

I'd be willing to bet, their home page is correct.

Neither. It just, according to this list, which isn't accurate, they're the 26th most successfull.
