The last big real interview I read with Jon was for the Bounce album in Classic Rock magazine. Jon always goes on about how much promo he does, but what promo does he really do then? I get the feeling that magazines just no longer care about what Jon has to say about new records.

He may not do a lot of magazines, but he does a shit load of T.V appearances, atleast American T.V. The same appearances bands like The All American Rejects and other bands whom some would consider more relevant than Bon Jovi. I think part of it might have to do with, like you said, the magazines no longer caring, but I also think he sees T.V as a much better outlet source.

First of all when he said magazines, I took them to mean gossip rags and there really is nothing on the surface to gossip about Jon. Maybe if they dug deep enough they would find something scandalous but they'd rather focus their attentions elsewhere.

Well he has done some magazine interviews like that Men's Magazine "Best Life" (?) but I think like SSM12 pointed out, I think they see TV as a much better way of promoting themselves. I know that the industry of newspapers and magazines is struggling partially becaue people just don't wanna apend the money when they can get the same kind of information online which leads me to another point.

There are always a ton of Bon Jovi promotion articles and interviews online about the albums and tours. Although I have noticed over the last two tours, Richie has done more of the press than Jon. I've always wondered if part of that was because Richie is a more interesting person/funny to interview or do they prefer to interview Richie or does Jon not give a flying f*ck anymore?

I'll use fail however I want whenever I want, please stop asking people not to use something or say something if that's what you are defending

FAIL.............

The fact is though Seb - whether he likes it or loathes it - having Jon on the cover of a magazine WILL sell more copy. That's just a given. And that's what any magazine editors want.

I take from this the same as everyone else - Jon's just not one to gossip about his or the bands private life. They're not going to sell their story for a million bucks or something, you know ((well, they did have that book deal...but then apparently decided against it))

So I think you've probably taking the quote out of whatever context it was said in.

If you mean music magazines - say Q, or Kerrang - they go with whatever trends are "cool" - and we know well enough that they're not interested in the band. Though Q always tends to run at least one Jon interview a year. I wonder though if something might turn out a little different this time around. They've reached a point I think where their starting to get that little bit of grudging respect.

I do, how could I know what I'm supposed to like if I didn't care what they said?

I think Richie is doing more of the interviews because one, he's very outgoing and very good with the small talk, and two because Jon just gets bored with answering the same questions again and again. I mean if you do ten interviews about the same record how many ways can you describe it, answer questions about your family life etc, etc.... before you start to sound like a broken record yourself??
Plus, Richie probably has a bit more time available than Jon and Jon sems to have made a big effort in recent years to make sure people are aware that Richie is his partner in the making of BJ records.

I do think Jon was talking about being in thegossip columns, and the tabloids. He doesn't appear in those hardly at all and he doesn't spend much time in the trendy clubs, or the trendy restaurants. I think what he meant overall was that he doesn't deliberately seek out public attention when he's not working, he doesn't "need" the high one gets from being in front of a crowd everyday, and he doesn't need constant reassurance that he's still famous, as one must assume some celebrities do since they constantly put themselves in places and positions to make sure that someone is taking a picture or video, that they are getting mentioned on TMZ or Extra. Celebs complain about never being left alone but often it's their own doing.

Actually...just recently an issue of People mag had a very small paragraph that said he was bothered with Dorothea at a restaurant by fans. Maybe he is thinking....why do they print this stuff? I'm not sure how the whole gossip mag thing works, but he would probably rather talk about football or the new music. (Or politics.)
