They still have it (cf. Crush and Bounce demo ballads, eg Stay). They just won't include the greater ballads on the albums for one reason or another

stay is one of the best demos I've ever heard, its a shame they didn't put that one on crush! I like Joey (like the live version) for instance, but it aint half as good as Living in sin...
Jon and richie are in a what we in sweden call a 40 year crises, they have lost all their spark, they should take a brake and then com back when its over...
