I love that song

I don't think you can compare a multi-artist soundtrack with something like Blaze Of Glory though
Well in which case there aren't many single artist soundtracks anyway, so if we're using that criteria YGII beats them all.

There are a few though, Disney ones tend to be (e.g. The Lion King = Elton John, Toy Story = Randy Newman, Tarzan = Phil Collins), and another one that springs to mind is Batman by Prince

Purple Rain is absolutely up there along with Y.G. soundtrack.

Look in their eyes Mom you'll see me."

I don't see it as a soundtrack - it's a solo album inspired by a movie, so I don't wanna compare it to other soundtracks. I mean, just one or two of the songs have been used in the movie (haven't seen it in a long time though). For a (solo) album: It's brilliant. I don't listen to it very often though, but when I do, it totally captures me. "Santa Fe" would be my favourite track, followed by "Justice In The Barrel". I was never so keen on the studio version of "Blaze Of Glory", but it works. Weakest track is "Miracle", which is just a bit too soft and cheesy, but over time I even started loving that...

John Williams composes some killer soundtracks though.
I agree YG2 isn't really a soundtrack. John Williams has got to be at the very top of the list, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Close Encounters, Jurassic Park some of the most memorable movie music ever.

Hehe i know but "Miracle" i love that song, i dont know if its the video too, which i like a lot too,
But the song is great too, yes is cheesy and peaceful but the lyrics and music is good, also it really creates an atmosphere

as for any other soundtracks i think the one that gets close to this is "Rocky IV" with songs like "Theres no easy way out" "Burning Heart", "Hearts on fire" or "Man Against the world"

Bryan Adams' "Spirit" is pretty good as well.

Anyways, too bad lost highway could have had some elements from blaze of glory

Although I agree, the album is fantastic, on any list of the top soundtracks of all time, it's not even mentioned. Not on a top 25, and not even on a top 100.

Some off the top of my head that are always on there are The Wall, West Side Story, Flashdance, Saturday Night Fever and The Bodyguard.

how the hell is this a soundtrack, when none of the songs feature in the movie itself (other than the end credits)??

it's an album inspired by the movie, fair enough. not a soundtrack though.

my favourite soundtrack is the one from the Last Mohican. Beautiful music.
