But that logic doesn't work.
I've been a fan since 1984 when I heard 'Runaway' on WAPP.
But I've maybe been to a couple dozen shows and don't collect singles and b-sides. I don't know every lyric by heart. I'm blissfully unaware of where the band lives or how they like their meat cooked or what guitars Richie used for the solo on any given song.
Some would say that despite being a fan for so long, I'm not as big of a fan as they are. There's no way to tabulate this kind of stuff.
Yes, I have seniority. But I don't think that's any guide to judging how much the band and the music means to you. But then again, that's how I define how big of a fan I am. Others tabulate it based upon concerts attended, bootlegs owned and times they've met the band. On that account, I fall short.

no reason to judge it - as both said

but it's obviously hard to guage - because for example on the SSJ tour i saw there was this German woman who'd seen something like 200 shows (!) but then is she a bigger fan than someone who lives in a country where it's not as easy to see them - or someone who doesn't have as much money

i suppose to take it literally, the biggest fans are also the biggest loonies because they are just that... fanatics

The only way to judge the biggest fan is with a scale.
Honestly, there's no other way to compare what the biggest fan is.
You're right... if you don't have the money, how can you compete with someone?
If you're a student, you can't miss classes to go on the road (well, you can - but to each his own) whereas if you're working for a living you can choose to take your vacation days around a tour.
If you live in Poland or Israel or China and you're a Bon Jovi fan, you're pretty much shit out of luck. Should you have "points deducted" for that?
There's no way to compare.

you're right but i'd like to emphasise the brackets

only replace classes with exam time and that's me 4-5 weeks ago during the UK tour

Why were they the best tours? Because you've been told they were? A live show is as enjoyable and as special as you allow it to be in your own mind. If you go to a concert with preconceived ideas that it isn't going to be as good as it has been before, then it won't be as enjoyable. Go to the concert with an open mind, and you'll love every minute of it.

For example, I saw Robert Plant in Cardiff last year. He was obviously in his prime during the 70s, and I would loved to have seen him then, but I didn't go to the concert expecting a led zeppelin concert. I didn't expect a rendtion of Dazed and Confused like the one on the song remains the same dvd. I went there to enjoy the show and marvel at the brilliance of the band, and the man himself. Needless to say, it was by far the best concert I've ever been to in my life!

Was this really on topic??? lol

well Im definitely a younger fan since im only 16 and have only followed BOn Jovi since 2000. yeah so what if Ive only been to 5 or 6 shows now? I feel like Im just as big a fan as anyone out there. I listen to their music and their music touches me... I think the only person that can truly gauge how big a fan you are, is yourself. No one else. No one else knows how the music touches your life.
and Im sorry but I dont think just because someone is older, makes them a better fan by any means. some people say that with age comes wisdom, well ive seen tons of adults without wisdom, per se, lol that are Bon Jovi Fans, sooo... to each their own.

I have to agree with you. I am also only 16. I have liked Bon Jovi since I was 3. (well... i ran around the house and sang the songs... i have grown to apprecaite their music more now) Nobody can tell you if you are a fan or not. I may not have gone to a lot of concerts, I may not have all the CDs... but when I'm having a bad day, their music cheers me up. Thats all I have to know. And to me, that makes me a fan. Other people have other ideas. The fact that your posting on a Bon Jovi message board says your a fan! If you call yourself a fan, you are.

I am old. But I have been with them since the start and the fact that I am still with them says a lot! No other band has managed to keep me interested or entertained as much as Bon Jovi has. They have staying power, which is great because a lot of bands today do not.

I think the fact that they still manage to attract a younger fan base speaks volumes!!!

I do go to concerts with an open mind, and I have loved every minute of every bon jovi concert i have been to, I'm just sayin i wish i could of seen them with long 80's hair and high vocals, I'm not sayin i dont love the Jovi i see now, i just wish i could of seen them back then too.
