I like your set a lot Eric.

The only problem I have with your setlist is that you have completely avoided the first two albums, Blaze Of Glory, Bounce and Lost Highway. Which hardly is able to showcase a bands career. But then again, it's YOUR dream setlist. If I had to chose a setlist, I would include songs that I do not nessasarely care for as much, but still highlights a song from each album.

I wanted to include Tokyo Road and Right Side of Wrong, but I had to keep it somewhere in the realm of possible. (I figure 31 songs isn't that far off from the 30 they break out at special shows) As for the breakdown, well:
1. It's My Life
2. You Give Love a Bad Name
3. Wild In The Streets
4. Say It Isn't So
-While I know a lot of people disagree with me, I'd love to see IML open. If that talkbox kicked in to start a show in a darkened arena, the audience would explode. In fact, they'd carry the song to the point where it's live speed would become irrelevant. Bad Name in the classic 2 slot because it honestly does work there. Follow it up with WITS and SIIS to keep the crowd up. Neither were hits per say, but they have enough pop in them to keep people who don't know them entertained.
5. In These Arms (Dave Vox on first verse)
6. This Ain't a Love Song
-ITA in the 5 slot keeps that poppy feeling from the opening, but it's subject matter creates a nice transition to a ballad. Having Dave do the opening verse gives him the spotlight, but having Jon do the rest keeps the casuals happy. Since ITA creates the previously mentioned transition, going into a monster ballad makes sense. I went with TAALS since it's my favorite one, but BOR could fit here as well.
7. I'd Die For you
8. Captain Crash And The Beauty Queen From Mars
9. Love's The Only Rule
-Doing Die 4 U and CC back to back brings the party atmosphere back for a couple of songs, but D4U's subject matter provides a solid transition out of the ballad. LTOR brings the party back down, but still has a bouncy enough pop sound to transition out of Crash.
10. Dry County
11. Stranger In This Town (Richie Vox)
-DC in the middle of the main set gives it the chance to take up 9-10 minutes without the late in in show time constraints. After DC, Jon can give his vocals a break. Granted, here's a dream elements, as Richie will probably never do Stranger at a Jovi show again but it has been done before.
~Acoustic~
12. Diamond Ring
13. I'll Be There For You
14. Mystery Train
15. Something To Believe In
16. Love For Sale
-Start the "intimate" acoustic set with just JR and RS doing Diamond Ring, which sets the mood for monster hit IBTFY. Mystery Train would probably drag on the casuals, but like SITT, I want it and it is my "dream" set. STBI could work the same way Hallelujah used to, and Jon/the band being out in the platform keeps the casual involved in a song they don't know. Ending it on LFS adds some humor/fun into the otherwise serious acoustic portion.
~Back To Electric~
17. Lay Your Hands On Me
-The fact that both of us have LYHOM in the post-acoustic slot is a testament to how well that worked back in the mid-90's. The long buildup into a big hit would really get the crowd going again after the acoustic set.
18. Have a Nice Day
19. Good Guys Don't Always Wear White
20. Hey God
21. The Radio Saved My life Tonight
-This is the definition of dream set right here, and is much more thematic than Bon Jovi usually gets. That said, I still think it could work. The HAND/Good Guys/Hey God trifecta is basically all angry, all the time. HAND and GG have that real "**** the world" mentality, which then subtly leads into the desperation of Hey God. Putting Radio after HG literally provides the salvation (in music) that the narrator of Hey God is craving. Beyond all that, all four are major rockers, and one is a huge hit, so the casual audience would be somewhat entertained.
22. Bad Medicine W/Pretty Woman
-Doing Bad RX with PW here gives a jolt to the crowd as it's a hit, and provides some light after the previous angry 4-pack.
23. Wild Is The Wind
24. Always
-WITW is a nice treat for the die hards keeps the rocking momentum of Bad RX, and subtly transitions into the concept of lost/unfulfilled love highlighted by the next song. Always takes the themes from WITW and expands upon it, plus it's a massive enough hit that the whole audience knows it.
25. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
-SIBSN gives a feel good moment to end the main set. Also works here as it's known enough to get people into it, but not a huge enough hit to fully satisfy them.
Encore 1:
26. I Believe
27. Blood On Blood W/Acoustic Intro
28. Wanted Dead Or Alive W/Ride Cowboy Ride intro.
29. Keep The Faith
-The band can afford to open the encore with a song the casuals aren't all that familiar with, as they will be juiced up for the encore either way. Plus IB is pulsating enough that it shouldn't lose many of them. A short speech by JBJ into the acoustic/electric hybrid version of BOB would keep most of the energy up. Doing RCR as the intro to Wanted gives the die hards a treat, then gives everyone the hit they've been waiting for. KTF has enough power to close a first encore, even if less and less casuals know it these days.
Encore 2:
30. These Days
31. Livin' On A Prayer
-Second encore opens with TD pretty much only as gift to the die hards. After that, simply give everybody the song they've been waiting all night to hear in LOAP. As I've said before, Prayer is basically the equivalent of an orgasm at a Jovi show, and it will leave everyone in the building satisfied.
Encore 3:
32. Never Say Goodbye
-NSG is a parting gift to the die hards, but it's known enough, plus straightforward and sentimental enough not to alienate anyone in the audience.
Obviously, a set like this will never happen, and it is made up of songs I personally want to hear. That said, I do thing it (or something shorter) could work/please a crowd very well.
