Why is it called Waltzing Mathilda? I always wondered if it was based on the old standard also called Waltzing Mathilda. I know the one Tom Waits wrote is different, but I haven't heard the standard in many years.

The Tom Waits songs is no different to the Tico song. Same Lyrics, same harmonies they just gave it a different name. Maybe they thought we are not smart enough to remember the title when no one actually sings "Tom Trauberts Blues nanana shalala yeah heyhey". I don't know.

I know the Tom Waits song is the same as the Tico song. What I was saying is that the Tom Waits song is different from the old standard called Waltzing Mathilda. I always wondered if that song inspired Tom Waits' version, but I haven't heard it in so long that I don't remember what it was about.

I'm sorry. Now that I've read your post again, it's actually clear what you meant... I never heard the standard. Someone from Australia could maybe sing it to us.

I didn't read all the post but I know that Waltzing Matilda is a kind of a legend in Austria. It had something to do with a cowboy if I remember correctly. Is there not an Aussie who can tell the storie??

If I had to pick something it would be wonderfull world, but I love to hear Tico sing a blues or something
