Lol..I have also been worrying about my age...I'm fast approaching 24 but it just seems like the last 8 years have sped by without me even realising it. And since I'm now getting towards my mid-20s I'm supposed to think about "settling down".

I have a mother who is 81 this year that is still flying (and hiking) all over the world. She is a photographer and she is not about to give up her lifelong love. She still totes all her own gear around - though she is eternally grateful for the digital revolution. The gear now weighs a lot less.

Age is a state of mind. I know people way younger than I am that are such stick in the muds. They won't consider anything new and different as good, they are not open to new ideas - and god forbid you should change their daily routine. THEY are old.

Kathleen
Truly a great post.

Haha, I couldn't wait to be 19. I thought finally I was an adult. But then, I didn't want to be older than 24 or so... So, really, I only wanted to live 5 years

For me my 18th birthday was really bad. I did a lot of stupid things that day like splitting up with my girlfriend, I actually spent around 2-3 hours in a hole at a festival because I was too messed up to get out and nobody could hear me. Ah...it was really sick. I never wanted that day to come and when I woke up it was there. Eversince I did not have this type of feelings again. I guess it's fine as it is as long as I look in the mirror and it's still me who I see.
Besides, what is age more than a convention that men invented for no real reason? What else changes beside a number?

I have to work. I guess time trully passes by!

I spent my 17th birthday breaking up with my first serious boyfriend. I then went to a club that was 18 and over only, but I knew the DJ, plus I was newly single ... it kind of gave me bonus points

I don't recall my 18th birthday but it was the time I was dating the Nikki Sixx wanna be... so, I have a feeling what went on, but have no recollection.

I don't recall my 19th birthday, but I know I was single.

I spent my 20th birthday in the back of a little after hours bar, doing shots with the hottest female bartender evah! (aussie girl - forgot her name -- god she was gorgous) and might have made out with her. We were the show of the night *blushes*.

I spent my 21st birthday alone at home getting over my breakup with some Aussie guy who at the drop of a hat told me he'd be moving to South Africa. ??? The weirdos I dated....

I spent my 22nd birthday with my ex - at home - lame as the next 100 birthdays...

See, looking back, I really really really am glad I had a rather wild youth, cause, while you won't find me making out with the bartender anymore, I still can look back and reminisce

*sigh* those were the days....

I totally agree with you - I really like looking back at my more or less wild and reckless youth, even though it sometimes feels like it was a bicillion years ago. But then I get some sort of salesman on the phone, asking me if my mom's at home. Instantly makes me feel like I'm 16 (max!) again
