It is 100% necessary for the future of Everton Football Club. There is no way we can continue to compete with the revenues we are currently bringing in, particularly not with the increasing necessity to build a squad fit for Europe and to mount an ongoing charge for Champions League spots over the next few years. Plus, Goodison is becoming a dump with every passing season and Kirkby really isn't THAT far away.

You wont be loving it when you go like Leeds United. Apparently, i've heard, that you've taken a loan out for Yakubu on the presumption of a good European run.

You have this on good authority from the FD at Everton, I presume? Hearsay and speculation is rife; we have a good board who know what they're doing. What were the TV rights this year? £50m? That certainly helps.

hahahahahaha ... Kenwright and Wyness the Merseyside version of the Chuckle Brothers.

What was all this bullshit that Moyes was going on about only a month ago about how unfair it was on poor little Everton that everyone else was spending 'irresponsibly' then goes and spunks a load of cash Yakubu and Fernandes all of a sudden.

That cash has come from somewhere and I don't think its just from balancing the books. No more excuses now Moysey boy, you've had a bigger net spend than Liverpool and Chelsea this transfer window.

By the way, there's no way Yakubu is worth £11.5m.

Since when has Wyness been anything other than an astute businessman? He has brought in revenue from other, non-football, areas (credit cards, etc) which was never a route investigated/pursued under previous governance. This has put us in the top 20 football clubs in the world revenue-wise' something unimaginable 5 years ago. Our net debt and gearing has reduced significantly since we decided that employing businessmen to run a business was more sensible than fans. This was helped, obviously, in no small part, by the sale of Wayne Rooney, it has to be said.

You talk about 'balancing the books' as if you're in the know. Even if they have financed his acqusition via a secured loan, this is far from uncommon. I haven't seen Everton's balance sheet in the last couple of years, but £11m of long term debt against a turnover of £60-odd million per year is hardly staggering. Check out any AIM listed company and see for yourself.

You, I, and the rest of the world know that Everton DO NOT have the resources to compete with the big four. The only reason your net spend is lower than ours is the fact that you've bought so much deadwood in the last few years, it was only a matter of time before it had to be offloaded. If you're arguing that Benitez and Mourinho have spent wisely since they've been in charge, you're, frankly, 'avin' a larf.

Yakubu isn't worth £11.5m, no, but nor is Fernando Torres; a player whose club record is nowhere near as prolific as his interntaional record; a player who has never played in the Premiership, worth £25m. The market is overinflated, everybody knows that. Picking out single cases doesn't prove your point.

I can only say €25 000 000 for Hargreaves. We got Ribery for that money so THANK YOU MANCHESTER, I am sure we'll be grateful next year in the Champions League when we'll kick your ass.

I noticed however that English teams+ Real Madrid pay the same figures as the rest of Europe, only in POUND STERLING. I can't understand how Real payed 27 Million for Snejder or 36 Million for Robben. Before Ribery signed for Bayern, both were possible transfers to Munich. Ajax asked for 18 million while Chelsea for 22. I think when Real, ManU or Chelsea is knocking, prizes go instantly to the roof. Luckily, in football, money isn't everything. It's quite a lot, but not everything.

Oh Vallie - what a cutie. I hope you enjoy him.

I grew up with collies so I have always had a soft spot in my heart for them.
