Dropping ticket prices the day of the show is nothing new. Releasing tickets the day of the show is nothing new either. But that's the promoter, not Ticketmaster. The promoter decides when to release tickets and when to drop prices. Tickets that pop up the day before and day of the show are unused promo tickets, unused band/guest tickets, seats added after the stage is built, etc. I'm sorry you're missing the show, but this is very common.
