Well, as long as they aren't inconvenienced...

So Deb or Matt (or anybody else who knows), what happens when the band does the back-to-back shows. What do they do about load in then?

Wouldn't the load in load out times be specified in the contracts?

I'm not trying to create drama, I'm just curious about how it all works. And how someone, on one side or the other, didn't catch it until a couple weeks before an event when both events have been on the books since at least last October. And why they couldn't work something out even if it meant that the responsible parties had to chip in a little more to cover the additional crew needed.

It just seems like that would be preferable to screwing up the travel plans of those who had already bought tickets and made arrangements.

I’m sure that Richie and Bobby and plotting together the demise of the band. This is just the beginning...

Outdoors they usually carry three stages with them, I guess they at least also have 2 indoors so they get set up a day or two in advance and only the band's equipment needs to be brought in then.

Nope not in the contract at all. The venue is negotiated for the show day. When a tour gets scheduled there is rehearsal for the band but also load in/load out to get an "idea" of the time they need. There are preferences of course but really the venue dictates the window of time. For back to back shows, they typically go from load out to the venue and stay on the buses until trucks are there. For union venues, like MSG, the union has contracts, and the crew has to work within the confines of those. Most likely this is a venue decision not a band management one.

Yes stadiums are a different animal depending on the size of the production. For these US arena shows, the back to backs have to be in a distance that make it feasible. For instance, Nashville to St Louis is less than 300 miles which makes it doable to get the trucks there in a timely fashion.

That's surprising to hear with so much revenue at stake. I guess what's really surprising is that more shows don't get cancelled under those conditions. But I guess it is what it is. Thanks for the explanation.

You know, symbeline, for someone who professes to hate the Richie drama coming up in every thread, you sure seem to be trying to stir it up lately. In a kidding way, of course... But why not just let sleeping dogs lie?

Oh I agree. What's worse is that now band management has to pay the crew longer retainer which is standard when there is a break in the tour or unexpected change.

That stinks! I hope the venue has to cover that as well as additional costs associated with rescheduling.
