That sounds to me like they were auditioning to replace Bobby. I know the decision of bringing Shanks was made very late in the process of prepping for the THINFS tour so it makes sense they were considering other alternatives. That said, I also liked Matt O'ree and his dynamic with Phil ans Jon....

Has anyone yet oficially commented on the reason for Bobby leaving the band? I only remember rumours that Jon and Bobby had some kind of argument and that Jon thought Bobby looked to ”old” or something like that. Don’t know if it’s true.
I miss Bobby. He had such a great voice. Like Richie he had some ”soul” to his tone that actually worked quite well with Jon’s. Everett and Phil simply has voices that definetely can sing whatever is put in front of them but with not much character in my opinion. Shanks voice I can’t comment cause I’ve never heard him sing.

Good point - hadn't considered that to be honest!

As they geared up for the 2015 tour, Bobby had some private problems (I think he got divorced!?) and was quite overwight looking like Santa Clause with his white beard. Jon told him to get in shape and Bobby told Jon to piss off.

I kept waiting to find a review of this show. When I finally did it was written by a University student for a University school paper. LOL https://vanderbilthustler.com/48063/...his-2022-tour/

Thanks for the link. I loved her article. It was obviously written by someone who is young, a bit naive and quite idealistic. But in a very good way! This is actually the way I would like to be able to describe them myself. Not necessarily paying too much attention to the obvious flaws or not too much missing the glory days either. Just concentrating on what is still great and timeless about them.

Back in the 80’s, some of my high school esssays probably sounded exactly like the review on the link. I remember writing a Bon Jovi New Jersey Tour 1988 concert review for the school paper. They even put a cool picture of Jon in a leather jacket on the page.
