I think it's just the way things are going $ wise with bigger acts...I'm not saying the prices are reasonable...but it's about the norm over here for acts the likes of BJ....seems the bigger acts here are doing 2 and 3 tier ticket prices these days, with say A$100 being nose bleed and binocular spots up to A$560 for the best seats in the house. That's the highest I've seen here [the $A560 ones - last year for The Eagles]...the average is coming out at around the A$150-170 for acts like U2, The Stones, BJ [if they come I expect to see a price of A$150]. There's is a market that will pay...that's why the prices are like that...notwithstanding the rise in all things, especially petrol.

I know Mohegan Sun only holds about 10,000 for a concert, but come on guys, if you don't wanna play a smaller venue, don't, but don't charge Madonna like prices for a ticket!
That truly is ridiculous - wherever the Mohegan Sun place is...

A venue holding 10,000 is quite big, imo. I don't like big venues and only go see bands I absolutely 'have to' see.

Don't think BJ can charge U2 and the Stones prices ....

But A$150 are only about US$75? Right?

Mohegan Sun is a Casino in Connecticut. They have an arena there that holds about 10,000 people (may even be more for a concert with floor seating.)

I saw the Goo Goo Dolls at Foxwoods a few years back and paid $65 a ticket. I saw them the following year at an arena, and paid only $35 a ticket. I'd say it's a double edged sword - You've got the concert promoters plus the casino charging you. Seems stupid to me - You have a concert there, and you get more people to gamble. You'd think the casino wouldn't charge all that much to the band to have them play there. Especially, when they could easily go 20 miles down the road and play at the Hartford Civic Center.

Those additional venue charges have always puzzled me. I just don't understand why I need to pay almost the same amount I paid for the ticket to the venue itself??? Ie. Audioslave at a 10,000 seater venue $38.50 -- additional surcharges (processing fee - ? - and venue fee) $14.50 - grand total $53. I find that totally stupid, but what the hey. Total ticket prices were about the same when they played a little theater, seating 1,500 earlier this year. Ticket price was higher but the surcharges much less.

That's Ticketmaster. It's absurd. $10.50 processing fee, then a $3.50 shipping fee - PER TICKET!

Ticket prices over the past 15 years is alot like gas over the past year. The amount it has gone up isn't anywhere NEAR regular inflation prices. It's just now, you've got these greedy promoters, greedy record companies, and greedy ticket agencies (Ticketmaster) who all have their hand in the pot. It's a shame. But hey, as long as we keep going, it'll never end. It's a vicious circle.

But Bon Jovi isn't getting any bigger for the past 5 years.

You can hardly compare the rise in prices of concert tickets with the rise in price of the Earths depleting natural resources, which are rising in price due to the fact that they are running out and thus the companies who provide them want to make as much money as possible while they still can.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
SEB, by bigger acts, I mean the artists who have been at it a long time, and are still at it...acts that have a fairly hefty portfolio [ie: U2, The Stones, Springsteen, BJ] as well as acts that are massively popular at the current time[ie: Robbie Williams]
You may well be right about BJ not being any bigger for the past five years...but wasn't what I meant by the word bigger.

It is for sure, the way ticket prices are going here in any case, and have been for awhile. If we could buy concert tickets for A$100 or less for these artists I named, we'd think we had died and gone to heaven.

I would also assume that they will be back at Giants Stadium. And I am willing to pay the $$ for Mohegan. I already reserved my room and I'm looking forward to a weekend away with no kids, lol.
