Now the question is, for those that understand tech related stuff does that make sense? or is he trying to make it sound like over complicated BS.

Either way I respect Matt for the answer.

From Matt
"Sound Crew recorded soundcheck so the lighting crew can reset lighting marks. They were able to reset timecode to the recording and reprogram lights. The recorded program was not closed so when the lighting ques started the soundcheck started to play over the band performing. Therfor a cluster F of sound. They quickly realized program was closed and the show went on. Nothing to do with background tracks or vocals or anything other than a tech that F ed up"

If the soundcheck has the lyrics from the german version is that possible?

I believe they were running sound without the band and playing stuff to see how the venue sounded.... so i don't matter what it was playing

Its possible they don't actually have to sound check THINFS because its played so much, and its just used for the timecode that Matt is talking about.

I still think something stinks. But then again I think JBJ isn't stupid enough to attempt to lip sing such an easy song.

I think there's something to this soundcheck story, using this german track would actually make sense, it wouldn't matter which version is used, so they downtuned this version and used it for soundcheck.

I know one thing, we wont have to worry about this happening again.

Soundcheck is for the band to check their sound.

Of course it matters what was played!

They're cueing lights to match what the band performs, not the damn album track.

And certainly not the alternate version!

His lame excuse solidifies that it is indeed exactly what it looks like.

I have no reason not to believe Matt in all honesty. As was previously mentioned, it makes no sense for the entire track to be played - a vox track I could believe. And for the choruses Jon didn't sing the "I set each stone, and I hammered each nail" lines even though the audible track clearly has his voice at the forefront - it didn't seem as though he was trying to fool anyone. I'm critical of their use of backing tracks - particularly the line before the solo in Prayer - but I'm willing to let this one go as the band trying not to let a tech f**k-up ruin the show opener.
