I just don't think you saw the same Jon Bon Jovi we saw. When you see the lead singer giving the lead guitarist several warnings of how much he sucks and when you see the lead singer messing up several lines simply because he's completely out of shape that's a different thing than just a couple of mistakes.

When I go to a live show I expect a good show, and I expect the band wanting to play for me when you pay good money to see them. Not some lead singer with an ego that's gotten a little too big for his boots. Jon did not enjoy that night and ignored every fan. He glazed over the audience instead of seriously being part of the show.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

That does sound bad.

It's a shame as Jon this tour, in my opinion, looks a lot more up for it and interacting with the crowd and stuff. When I seen them in 2008, he looked like he lost his 'Frontman/showman' sort of status, whereas this tour he looks back to normal.

Personally I don't see how a ticket price factors into how good a show is or isn't or the expectation of the show. I also don't expect anything when going to a show but to hear the music I love. What lead singer doesn't have an ego? If the lead singer doesn't have an ego then their isn't successful band.

I was in the second row, pit and didn't see the same Jon you did but then I was having a good time and really don't care if Jon is mad at Richie or if Richie messed up.... it is rock and roll. Jon was interacting with people in the pit. Really it shouldn't be taken so seriously. ( and yes I did see Jon pissed at richie because richie messed up... jon was right to be pissed at him, he is supposed to be a professional but I don't let that bother whether I am having a good time)

At the same time if the show was perfect , would we be hearing the autopilot and staged comments?

It's alright to have an ego, as long as it's justified. Jon goes out there pretending to be this big rock star yet he failed to deliver right from the start and started bitching at his band mates, while all he did was fluffing lines plenty of time, trying to catch his breath and ignoring every fan with a banner out there.

And yes, a ticket price has got everything to do with it. This band offers a good rock show for a certain price, and I didn't get my money's worth. I got a show with Jon completely on auto-pilot, mad at everything that was going on around him and a setlist that was predictable from start to finish, apart from the opener and Open All Night (another song Jon wasn't capable of nailing). And this is where Jon's ego comes in. He pretends to be this big rock star, coming "home" (even though he doesn't live there anymore), and pretends to be delivering hit after hit, while there was no passion in the performance at all.

It's Jon who's taking it way too serious. It is supposed to be fun and rock & roll but if there's one thing it wasn't it's rock & roll. There never, ever was any moment on that stage that it looked like the entire band clicked and had a fun time.

So now Jon was right to be pissed at him, yet Jon made plenty of mistakes himself? How would you feel if the rest of the band started pointing at Jon all the time every time he missed a note or fluffed a line? The person making the most mistakes during the night was Jon himself, yet he and his ego started to bitch at everyone else.

Not really. I saw 3 very good shows in May that showed a completely different band. The first night had a predictable set but the band enjoyed themselves and didn't lose the crowd either, another thing Jon failed at during night 4. By the time the show was 10 songs in the crowd wasn't into it at all anymore. You can have perfection without being on auto-pilot or having staged comments. Just look at Bruce Springsteen, who seems to be capable of delivering just that. And this is exactly what Jon can't. He wants to belong to the big boys, yet at times when he needs to deliver he often fails. He knew many die hards travelled to see the band play at Giants, yet he didn't have the respect to throw us one bone at all. Because that night was all about Jon, instead of it being all about the show.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

You don't think Bruce has a huge ego? News flash, he does.

I have seen Bruce in concert and was not impressed as much as I have been at Bon Jovi shows. Seb you seem to have lots of drama in your head with what people are thinking and how you think they acted.

Who cares if people travelled to a show, that is your choice to do so? Also it isn't Giants stadium it is NMS but that would be a fact getting mixed up in your drama. I travel for shows too and have no more expectations for it then I do at a local show.

What bone were you expecting? (Open All Night was damn good but according to you wasn't good enough) Maybe your own expectations and drama didn't allow you to have a good time. Also if you are used to a European show and crowd... US crowds are different...

Banners.... my friend who was front row had a sign(8x10 paper), jon read it and laughed. Banners are not allowed at US shows, so maybe they are ignoring them.... no one says they have to read the banners or react to them.

I'll go back to what I said originally... everyone has their own opinions on a show.

When you completely miss the guitar solo on HAND, yeah you deserve stink eye.
I usually don't notice musical mistakes that others talk about but that was beyond obvious. But it wasn't a show breaker for me, it is part of seeing a band live.
I didn't say Jon was perfect, I don't expect a perfect show... try reading and comprehending what I wrote.

I understand what Seb is saying and believe he has the right to his opinion. But because others don't see the show the way he does doesn't make the other person wrong, have no common sense. Everyone has an opinion on shows.

Why is there a need for a personal attack? I was at the show and it is my opinion.

And yes I am a happy fan... IMO it is better than being a miserable, arrogant, negative person who continues to run on about everything and says nothing.
