I can see this being somewhat of a combined tour as well. I mean they've always had the odd indoor show (Barcelona on the Bounce tour) added to it, most of the time in Paris (since they couldn't sell stadiums there).
Many arenas may probably be reserved as sort of a safety net. When certain stadiums won't sell properly, they'll move it there and talk about making the show more intimate and special for the fans like they did in Berlin 2013.

Interesting that they might not do Italy since the crowds were quite good there on the last two tours. However, they've skipped it quite often: no show in 1996, 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2008.

If my memory does not betraid me,I think they played Italy in 2003 at a festival.

You're right, I forgot about that one (probably because it was after the legendary night in Munich)

Jon is not going to book arenas in the UK 6 months after he plays to over 100,000 in the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

How does go out in front of a crowd that large knowing how awful he is going to sound?

I honestly can't see them selling remotely that much tickets. Maybe 50,000 or so. Just because the Cricket Ground could hold that capacity doesn't mean that so many will be there. I've seen them on fields that could hold 130,000 people and 25,000 were there.
