He said it’s like getting back on the ice after a fall. He knows he’s not ready and he’s nervous. Which is a pretty normal human reaction, really.
I’d imagine Nashville was a tentative step towards seeing if a full show might be on the cards soonish, and he says he’s been rehearsing to concert tapes with the coach he hired from the doctor who did his surgery, but who knows when or if he’ll feel ready (physically and psychologically at this point) to call it.
He sounds pretty content with life. Which sounds nuts to say given how privileged his life is! But he didn’t always, it’s good to hear him trying his best with his voice but seeming reasonably sanguine if he can’t do it again.
