The reason he sounds "better" on current songs like Legendary is that his muscle memory is completely screwed up from 10 years of more-than-wrong singing. I think he even addressed that issue with muscle memory in either an interview not too long ago or in the documentary. In my opinion, you can very well see that on BTBMB in Nashville. People say "it's better than 2022, closer to 2019". Yeah, but he sang it completely wrong (including false timing) in 2019 as well. He needs to get early 2013 in order to pace the older songs properly.

vocals do not sound good on the bridge for Waves.

From the Music cares performance of legendry which i thought was passable, to

watching these , you have to wonder if all the promo hes being doing on the

radio, tv etc and including all the air miles he must of clocked up has physically
drained him hence the difference

I had wondered about that as well. However, sadly that would seem to add up to he can't possibly tour because that would be a huge physical drain on him! I don't feel I'm just Livin' on a Prayer as much as I do i'm hoping for a miracle. While not really being able to believe I'm going to get that miracle!

Jon did an Interview with Willie Geist and at 1:03 he sings the opening to Born to Follow. Sounds bad.

Yeah this is very bad. I must say I'm losing much of the hope. Here Born to Follow is down tuned and still he needs to change vocal melody of the easiest verse ever.

On a similar note, now I think that his little contributions on American Idol (both performance and "mentoring" bits with IML) have been heavily doctored in post-production

Well, he says he’s not ready to book shows yet here (around 22mins in): https://youtu.be/WeQAJJdqPUc?si=EG-jNRz4BS9Y7-sR

Of course, not sure when this was recorded - she’s based in London, so before Nashville, whenever he was last over here.

It’s a decent conversation overall, I think, though the podcast leans towards exploring people and what they’ve experienced and how they’ve handled it, rather than ‘tell us about the new album’.

She’s also related to the Stones, which probably doesn’t hurt in the Jon being willing to chat with you department.

He does refuse to say when he makes the call on a tour later on; actually said something about having been afraid to do two or three shows (in the context of if he can do that, he can do more).

You have to wonder how he really feels about Nashville. He’s so determined that he’s getting better, but…

I think it is telling that despite him saying that he's 90% recovered (or whatever), he hasn't organised a single live show to mark the release of the album. If he wanted he could have organised a show with a select audience full of Jerry's. That he won't even do that, or something like the 2020 concert, probably tells us all we need to know.

He said it’s like getting back on the ice after a fall. He knows he’s not ready and he’s nervous. Which is a pretty normal human reaction, really.

I’d imagine Nashville was a tentative step towards seeing if a full show might be on the cards soonish, and he says he’s been rehearsing to concert tapes with the coach he hired from the doctor who did his surgery, but who knows when or if he’ll feel ready (physically and psychologically at this point) to call it.

He sounds pretty content with life. Which sounds nuts to say given how privileged his life is! But he didn’t always, it’s good to hear him trying his best with his voice but seeming reasonably sanguine if he can’t do it again.
