Yeah he's been saying that since March but from the sound of things so far that may take a while. It seems like he's done after like 3-5 songs

And he can't sing those exactly great either.

I respect his commitment to the craft, but "I can sing" is IMO not on the level of 100+ dollar tickets. Maybe he'll improve, maybe it's just studio records and one-off live performances from this point onwards.

I'd definitely like to know what Jon's definition or even standard of "I can sing" even is because going off recent performances it doesn't seem so.
His voice is still all hoarse and croaky and he still resorts to shouting to hit high notes.

I think Jon needs to stop singing for few months if there's no real progress. It's hard to say it from outside, but his vocal cords are exhausted and fried from constant touring, and now I presume he's singing basically every day, practicing, since his operation (at least it's depicted like that in documentary). Perhaps real rest and healing is due. And then, after the break, if it doesn't work out, it's done and it's fair.

Are we really back to this? Just a bit of rest and his voice will be better? No chance.

Well, probably not, but that's the last chance saloon?

His vocal cords are exhausted I presume, but hope that this makes anything better is basically zero. However, to practice everyday for 2+ years with no real progress in the last year?

Again, hard to judge, but I'd rather take a rest and evaluate, or another operation and evaluate. Cause this now? Perhaps enough for few songs in his Nashville bar.

How is he not taking a rest? He's done maaaaybe three live performances in close to two years. It's tough to say if he's still rehearsing hours a day but in no one do I think that's what's doing the damage. If you can't sing for a half hour to two hours a day, you can't tour and I personally feels like he knows that. That's why the full-album promo shows were kiboshed, that's why there were no live performance promos for the area.

I legit think he knows he's done but to think he's not taking it easy right now feels bonkers.

I'm not saying that rehearsals are doing the damage, but it is not beyond reason to argue that it is a possible source of fatigue persisting. The man didn't stop singing for 47 years or so since high school basically.

I agree that deep down he knows.
Perhaps he's even toned down rehearsals and it's probably the same, I was just making a statement in a sense that even hail mary such as that is now a possible try to get better somehow

Fatigue can definitely be a factor, but for it to become one, he should be able to sing one song well, then five songs, then full set. Whereas right now Jon is still stuck at step 1, he cannot do justice even for one song, that's why he's been allegedly working so hard to reach that level. This particular stage I believe has nothing to do with fatigue.

Yeah that makes sense.
