I'm shocked he went for it. I'm liking this new Jon. Nothing to prove, nothing to lose

Hi everyone!

I'm new on here, but I have been reading posts and following threads since the beginning of the Circle tour. I saw everyone was searching for videos so I posted my video of the end of Always for those of you interested in seeing the state of Jon's voice. I see that I was beaten to posting the link here, hope you all enjoy!

For anyone interested in a young fan's perspective who has seen them 9 times... Obviously not up to previous tour standards vocally, but it was well above expectations and I was pleasantly surprised with his voice after hearing the Miami and the theater tour... it's not great, but it's acceptable and I didn't notice him sounding too bad at any point. You could tell Jon was thankful and humbled to be back... he said something to the effect of "the past 3 years... I just hoped I'd get back on that ****ing stage again". It's 2017 and I will accept that, can't imagine a world with no more Bon Jovi and I'll gladly take this over that. But don't get me wrong, it was a great show to be at! Tons of fun and first time in the 4th row, I have tickets to see them twice more in Atlanta and Denver and I couldn't be more excited for them to be back!

Here's hoping for another great tour, varying set lists and some rarities soon!

One of the nice things about Always getting played at this early stage is that we now realistically can hope for These Days, Dry County, Livin' In Sin, TAALS. If Jon has this "**** it, let' go fo it"-attitude I can't see why he wouldn't feel the same for some of the songs above.
He would struggle with them, but if he could pull them of like the Always from last night, I'd take it over not hearing them any day.

That final 'Alwayayayays' was something else, perhaps the best ever! He went in there like his life depended on it and I had goosebumps all over me!

His voice will never recover to the pre-WAN levels and this level of effort is not sustainable on a per-song basis, so it won't be long before I go back to trashing his performances, but not this one. This may very well go down as the last truly great performance of Jon Bon Jovi!

Zacm95 thanks for uploading the snippet! Can't wait to hear the whole song.

Was WAN tour better in the end than in the beginning? Surely not, it was the opposite.

I think the reason why he would improve on LH and TC as they went on because, while his voice was much better, he did not put nowhere as much effort in preparing it for the tour and he would gradually warm his pipes with shows (kinda like when athletes start the season overweight and then play themselves into shape). Perhaps the lack of such preparation before tours is why he's been on constant decline ever since 93. I know most singers decline with age, but not as sharply!

I remain pessimistic, because I feel like this time Jon already did all that he could humanly do to make the most of his current voice, so it cannot get much better (because he already did the reps before the tour!) and there's simply no way that every Always performance will be as passionate as this one.

Of course, I will eat my words if I'm proven wrong and very happily so! Let's wait and see...
