Default A few things i noticed about the amsterdam gig

First, yes opening with LMS was a good idea, but Jons vocals are very restrained here, which is a shame. Richies on fire on this track with the riff.
For the 1st batch of songs Jon really seems to just be going through the motions, he seems bord during bad name and his vocals are all over the place in parts of prayer and BTBMB.
Radio actually sounded good, yes Jons vocals are restrained again but he stays in tune and the rest of the band inject alot of energy into this song, i was surprised as iv been hearing that this song sucks live on this board.
Richie misses the intro to HAND. heh
Things really pick up with Saturday night, i thot this was really excellent - one of the best acoustic performances ive heard from them in recent years. This was the first part of the show that actually got my attention. Vocals from Jon here on 100% fine, although you can see him concentrating quite alot.
And Wanted was spot on, as always
Who says you cant go home was actually very good! didnt think i was a fan of this song til i watched it live, the band seemed to be having a really good time by this stage.
Its my life.. good i suppose. Richie talk box solo sounded pretty good, sometimes the effect sounds a bit muddy but sounded good here. Jon on autopilot for this one.
Sleep when im dead.. meh. i suppose this was good aswell, always more energy in it live than on the album IMO.
And now to the part that clinched it for me.. Raise your hands here was totally excellent - the band seemed to have really moved up a gauge and you can tell with jons body language. his vocals are dead on and theres alot more stage presence from him here. And tico really is beating the crap outta them drums of his, good for him. We even get Hugey playing to the camera a bit with some gay lil dance thing (hey, he hardly ever moves normally)
Rockin performance of 'Faith, vocals a bit off with the higher notes but some great jamming from the rest of the band esp in the 2nd extended solo. Still alot of energy in this song when they do it live.

all in all, not a consistant performance, but it has convinced me that they definately do still have it in them. which i was quite happy to find out!

*edit*
p.s
oh and yes, if they were to never play bad name and Bad MX again id be quite happy with that.

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

What you noticed is partly compareable to what I posted in a nother thread:

1. Last man standing: This song is usually written in Em, the way Jon could sing it on the TLFR DVD too. BUT WHY did the play it in C#m yesterday, 3 notes deeper as usual!!??? This just sounds damn boring!! Even Tico could have sung it yesterday. There's no need for that Jon!

2. Prayer: Oh my god, there was no way Jon could sing the lower parts of the chorus after the solo! Weak and frustrating...

3. Have a nice day: Suddenly Jon had a stronger voice. Best performance of that song for me so far. Why not such engagement and power in all songs Jon?

4. Radio: It did and will always suck with singing 1 octave deeper as usual! Why not playing in D or C instead of E, so Jon's voice would be a big higher? I mean, when they play Living in sin, they dont play in E and Jon sings 1 octave deeper. No, the play it in C, and that sounds ok

5. Who says...: Should be next single, works great live as its a fun song like saturday night. Jon seemed to have fun singing it too...

6. Raise: Still great rocker, hopefully a part of the next tour.

7. Bad medicine/sleep dead: Remove it from the setlist! I'm fed up with those, and I think many are...
