A song that should open Bon Jovi shows in 2013
There's not much that needed to be said here. Does new tour means new opening song? Or should they stick to the previous ones? Should they open with a new song? Or should they stick an oldie that hasn't been an opener and put it in new life (aka Blood On Blood in 2010)?
I'm quite torn on this. One half me wants them to open with a new one, as it's always nice when you see an artist for a n-th time and he opens a song that wasn't written when you saw him/them the previous time. The focus on new material always makes an impression that a band believes in the record as well. In this regard, the TC tour started promising, but it didn't take them long to start dropping the songs. However, with LH tour the songs stayed pretty much all the way, with most of them returning in the TC tour as well. For me, Army Of One sounds like it could work as an anticipation builder, so that has my voice.
However, another half of me wants to see an old song reworked in a new slot. IML would be an absolute massive opener, they could even extend the talkbox intro. I imagine if they did this I would mark out crazy for the first time. KTF with an extended intro could also be really cool. The only question is do you want to open with a big hit right away. My dream setlist would have I Believe as an opener, but I just don't see them doing that in 2010s, way too vocally demanding.
Any creative suggestions are welcome, I was limited with only 10 options in a poll, that's why it didn't have Prayer, Bounce, OWN or other famous openers.
Also, you can elaborate on how you want a Jovi show to be opened in general. With a bang (ala Prayer, Bad Name), with a non-hit rocker (ala Raise Your Hands), midtempo song (ala Blood, Radio) or an intimate song to build anticipation (Something To Believe In, When We Were Beautiful, Not Fade Away etc.).
