Alright, no need to jump all over every single member of the board today

Yeah, Jon damaged his voice in the late 80s, and had to tone down on the screaming and extremely high vocals (like in the chorus of Prayer) thereafter. I think he also got vocal coaching as well.

So yeah, that'll have nothing to do with why Always might be too hard for him to sing nowadays ... probably more a combination of just age in general and taking up smoking in the late 90s

I'm sure we'all heard it before, but the version of Prayer from Cincinatti in 1987 is a perfect example of how his voice sounded back in the 80's, which was damn near perfect to me (at least in relation to the records.)

I heard this in Cardiff 2001, the "proper" version.... was actually quite surprised to hear it though, very unexpected and not a fave song of mine but was still good live

Same with me in Cologne 2001. They seem to have played it quite a few times during the european OWN leg...

I have been to many Bon Jovi shows from 1996 to present. He could sing Always and other songs really well still in 1995-1996. IMO his voice changed when Crush was released. He seemed to have a different tone and this made it difficult to sing some of the songs. It seems they tend to stick to the safer songs now. I must admit I wondered when they released TLFR that they redone Always & Bed of Roses so it was easier to sing.

Hears to hoping they are brave and try some different songs at the O2!

While I would love to hear this song live again I know it couldn't hold a candle to the version they played in Wembley in 95. So I'm satisfied just going back and listening to that version. The added verse and guitars are just stunning!
