I'd sooner that than a Bon Jovi tour next year....

Ideally with Richie having the band from the Strangers tour, i.e Tico David plus others.... I'd love him to do a real rock album, similar to Stranger, and come out doing 2,000 places with Balad of Youth, Who I Am, Rosie *starts drooling*

Mike don't even get me started!!! LOL!!!

Somehow I doubt he'd have the same band as on the Stranger tour for the simple reason that Dave would work on his own solo projects (he has at least 2 musicals out there and a few more on the drawing board) and Tico probably wants to get back to his other love (his artwork).

Plus I see Richie putting together a GREAT band with some of the people he toured with for Undiscovered Soul. One person I doubt he would EVER tour WITHOUT would be Crystal Taliefaro (SP). She is a wonderful percussionist as well as a perfect match for him vocally!!! He took her on tour every chance he had (with the exception of the 98 Japanese leg when she was on the road with Billy Joel again).

Stranger is by far my favorite of Richie's two solo efforts, and I would love to see him do a harder edged rock/blues cd for his third. One can only pray that he is ready for the challenge.

At least this time I hope he signs with a label who will not only promote him, but underwrite the cost of his tour so that he doesn't have to do it out of his own pocket again!

He's always been deeper than that. There IS more to life than rock and roll. If you want to limit your own existence, feel free. But to put your expectations for such limits on someone else is going too far. What if Jon had been content playing bars in NJ and never toured, or broke, world wide? Then you probably wouldn't even know who Bon Jovi are.

Oh My God Becky, you are soooo right.

Imagine the music world without Bon Jovi, we wouldnt know each other.

Seriously though, You are right, if you set limits you hold yourself back.

There IS more to life than rock and roll.
there really isn't.... There's distractions from rock and roll, i.e the things in life which make it imposiable for me to say "**** it, I'm just going to be a band full time"...

It isn't limiting my existance, it's specialising, theres a difference. It's like saying to a football player, 'don't limit yourself, be a cricketer, an highjumper, a swimmer and a horse racer'. You can never be great at something if you don't dedicate yourself to it.... Led Zeppelin coudln't be Led Zeppelin if they were to have turned their back on rock music, as opposed to explore what rock music is for them.

You could say maybe that 'rock' could be a bit limiting for a band like Deep Purple, or Yes, or Uli Jon Roth, because they've been doing it for over 30 years, and have explored the genra so much, there's little left for them to do. This would be false, becuase they're creative people, who still find new chalanges and ways of doing things.....

Bon Jovi however are not as experianced, and have not explored as much as the other bands. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but there are certainly no limitations in rock music for them, or rather Jon specificaly

It's not expectations for limitation, it's expectations for progression, for exploration of music. I don't like bands that scrape the surface and then move on because they've done it. I like bands to think one step futher, push it more, push it untill it doesn't work then change it even. But to really see where something can be taken, that's why I like Prog rock so much. I'm not saying I want Bon Jovi to be a prog rock band, but there is a world of difference between the rock songs on 7800 - Slippery - NJ - Faith - TD. That's the progression I like to hear, the way they make a rock song sound new and exciting.

Then he'd have been the worlds biggist idiot. Playing bars will never earn a living....more plausably he could have gone the South side way, playing bars and clubs around the world..... I'd have loved that. I'd have know of the band, and I'd have seen them.

Mike,

Look me up in 20 years and tell me if you still there isn't more to life than rock and roll.

The band IS great and they DO progress. But they have all said that if music was ALL they did, if the band was ALL they did, they would be bored and burned out. Without life experiences, they have nothing to write about. You can be dedicated to doing something well, but that doesn't mean you have to do it 24/7. Some people don't want to live in a box.

Put your expectations for what you want Bon Jovi to be into your own band and be everything you want Bon Jovi to be. Bon Jovi can be what THEY want to be.

Becky

I have a feeling they will tour next year, it's based on no facts and in fact all the facts are opposite it really. But I still think they'll do at least some promo gigs. I'm not sure if I want it or not (can't afford to go on tour next summer but there's no way I'd miss it). We'll see.

I hope they won´t tour next year ´cause I think I´d miss it. 2005 with new album would suit me...("Oh, suits you sir!" )
