It does surprise me seeing a Bon Jovi stadium show all seated. It just doesnt look right, because over here stadium shows are standing. And Bon Jovi stadium shows have been for as long as I remember. It's why The O2 shows did feel a bit different and the crowd a little flatter.

I'm sure BJ could do a GA stadium show in the states if they wanted to- the crowds are surely a lot more sedate nowadays, bar the clawing and elbowing of those who want to be right under Jon's nose, but I guess it's a whole different culture.

Lots of bands in US incldg Springsteen have pit area
as GA in stadiums as well as arenas
So it is basically comes to band or promoter
if they want pit area as GA

And because they can make money on seats, they don't.

Don't worry, they aren't slow to cash in on the standers with the gold/diamond/platinum/silver/bronze/copper/lead circles either

I have and in more detail.

Wouldn't they make more money on a GA show than a seated show? With GA, they can sell more tickets and all at the same price because everyone has an equal opportunity to get to the front. With seats, they have to lower the prices as the seats become worse.

But they have to have a consistant price that 15,000 people will purchase.

44 people fit per row on the floor. In the pit, let's just say there's 20 people in each row.

20 people purchasing the $2000 Diamond Circle package = $40,000
How many people would have to purchase General admission tickets at say... $75 would have to make up for those 20 people? Aprox. 530.

Rows 2 and 3 are emerald tickets at aprox. $1500 each. There's 40 rows there. That makes $60000. That's 40 tickets at the price of 800.

Rows 4-6 are 60 seats. at $1000 each.
1000 x 60 = 60,000. Again, sam math, That's 60 tickets at the price of 800.

Now there's the other VIP packages at around $600 for outside the pit seating, but let's just ignore these for easy math sake.

There's 40 rows in the average hockey arena, multiplied by 44 seats in a row which is 1760 seats. Multiply that by the average ticket price of $200 for floor seats (Calgary floor seats range from 196 dollars to 226 dollars) and you get $352, 000

Now this is just the floor. Add 352,000+60,000+60,000+40,000 = $512,000

75 (the average price of a general admission ticket I'd imagine Bon Jovi would charge) x 15k(total amount that can fit in the arena) is 1.1 million dollars. That means Bon Jovi is already making half the money of the arena from the floor alone if compared to a full general admission of $75.

Now the whole lower bowl is an average ticket price of $200. There are 4,000 people that can fit in the lower bowl of a concert. (not counting behind the stage) 4000 x 200 = 800k. 800k + 512k = 1.3m. You would get 1.1m for selling 15,000 tickets at $75 each. But you get the point? Bon Jovi makes up to double the money by having assigned seating.

I'm really bored....

You're missing the fact that a lot more people enter in a stadium without seats.

which brings us to fact, that with less seats it is easier to achieve a sellout

maybe it is simply because of declining interest.
