Given Jon's struggles with his voice, I wonder if that increases the chances of seeing David sing In These Arms. I've enjoyed the live recordings I've seen online and the version on Lunar Eclipse, so I'd love to see him sing it live. It would probably be sensible to let Phil X take the mic for a song and I wouldn't mind if he played one of his own. Hell, why not let Tico sing Only in my Dreams?

Another thing I'd enjoy that would help with Jon's voice which someone else also mentioned is extended versions of songs. I thought Keep the Faith was one of the highlights of the drive-in gig. I'd absolutely love extended versions like they used to play on the New Jersey tour, particularly Blood on Blood, but I think that's pretty unrealistic. I imagine Jon sees that stuff as a thing of the past when they were younger and Alec and Richie were part of the band.

I'd be very happy if they played some rarities from any pre-Crush album, or failing that from Crush or Bounce. I'd also love to see Jon on the harmonica at the end of BTBMB or These Days like he used to do, but I imagine that's also a pipe dream.

Hey, I can dream!

Am I the only one that thinks that David has a bad singing voice ? I can’t stand to hear him singing.

I don’t like his singing. He is to high in the mix in concerts. And his voice on In These Arms at Rock In Rio is even worse than JBJ at his worst.

He doesn't sing bad, but I don't like the tone of his voice. He's a bit Elton John'ish.

That's an accurate analyses. He can still hit the highs but he's doing it seldom. Probably cause it's asking a lot of his vocal chords. Most of what he sings is mids and indeed his pitch got very bad in that range. The only way BJ was able to do 2,5 hour shows was by pacing the songs so that the high key songs were evenly spread along the setlist. Now that's gone. We'll see the band do shows that won't go over 2h now. Still OK cause not many bands play 2h shows, but us BJ fans were spoiled by long shows.

IÂ’d even go so far and say that the strongest part of his voice nowadays is still his upper range because heÂ’s forced to change his technique and project his voice more when he wants to hit the high notes.

I believe that's true. I don't expect any surprise.

Lowering keys takes the power out of songs. ( Yes, it's not cause a lot of heavy metal has D or even C tunings that low keys are equal to power)

Especially for guitars - tuning half a step to one step down is acceptable, but lower will make guitars sound bad. To go lower, it would mean songs would have to be transposed into complete different keys with different chords, but then again, some riffs would have to be played on different strings and it would make them sound completely different.

So - there's a limit to lowering the key of a song. AND - Jon's problem is in the mids. So it wouldn't really help a lot.

EDIT: Actually : Jon has been singing many songs a full step lower - problem is : the band still plays only half a step down LOL

With Shanks in the band, the only thing they'll dig in deeper are songs that Shanks produced. HAND & everything after.

I think time will tell but the fact that the only "new" song rehearsed was Just Older gives me some real hope.

In this case, I think the only one to blame for them not digging deeper is Jon. They played a shitload of rarities on occasions in the summer of 2013 when Phil had just been in the band for 2 or 3 months. And they played a bigger variation of songs in 2015 with the Phil X and Matt O'Ree.
I'm not sure I'd want them to do Just Older. It was one of the songs Jon had already struggled with the chorus in the better years and if now stands side by side with Shanks in the front and sings:
"When we took on the world
We were young and brave
We got secrets that we'll take to the grave
And we're standing here shoulder to shoulder"
...I'll be gone from here for good
