Are tickets too expensive?

I just bought the tickets to see Bon Jovi in San Jose this tour. This will be my 4th time seeing the band, and each time it costs more and more. I understand that the band has the right to charge as much as they want but 125 for lower level? I payed a total of 160 for two tickets for side stage because I didn't want to be in the nose bleed section, and 160 for two tickets is already a little unjust in my opinion. When I saw Paul Stanley, it cost me 30 dollars and I was front row. I must say the only two bands that were more expensive was Kiss and Aerosmith and even at that I at least had better seats. I doubt it's just the band, I think it's ticketbastard in general, holding back seats or selling the best ones off for auction. Either way, it's really sad to see fans get milked for all that money. I'm looking forward to the show, but in the back of my head I always think of the money that was spent on the tickets...

if they were too expensive people wouldn't pay for them.

all in gold circle tickets in the Uk work out at close to $180 a pop and i paid that gladly.

i've spent close to the same to see the police, u2 and roger waters and was disappointed by all of them except waters as far as the price to how good the gig was is concerned. at least with bon jovi i know it's money well spent especially for gold circle.

I've only been to one Bon Jovi show before, only really that 1 proper concert at such a large venue, and last time I paid about £55 for gold circle and it was very much worth it for me. I had an excellent time, and it was just a nice extra bonus last year that Nickelback were the support and I like them, and I got to hear my all-time favourite song in the encore (Dry County) This time I've paid nearer to £90 for effectively the same thing, and hopefully it will be worth it too.

Yeah, they are too expensive. People are only buying them because they have no alternative. They want to see the band, so they have to pay. Why the band and the promoters are asking for obscene amounts of money for tickets, I don't know. I just know it's immoral and pathetic. It's not like they need even more money.

In 2006 (Stuttgart) I paid:
- 122 $ for a ticket
- 40$ for a trip
= 162$ for Bon Jovi Show -> Yes it was worth. I was about ten meters to scene (in sector GCirlcle but without GCircle ticket). Show was FANTASTIC.

NOW
- Propably I will pay nearly 200$ for a ticket n GCircle
- I Will pay 50$ for membership in backstage
- I will propably pay 120$ for trip
= 370$ for show this year!!! Yes it's too expensive but I do this. They made great show in 2006 and I want see that show again ... and maybe this will be my last Bon Jovi show.

At least on ticketmaster you can still technically buy tickets for 50 dollars, although the seats are shitty. I don't know how it is in Europe but in U.S. the best seats are sold way before the general sale even appears. That's why you see tickets for 1,000 + for first couple of floor levels which is ridiculous. Obviously someone is buying them, but it's not like they have a choice. It used to be possible to get floor seats, and good floor seats on ticketmaster, now the only chance of getting such seats is either A. wining them B. paying insane amounts of cash

Yes. Bon Jovi are a 50quid band WITH fees max IMO.

But as has been said, they know they can charge whatever they want and peopel will pay it.

Its just a bit sad that they are SO loaded and still icnrease prices. Also don't liek the way they charges laods more for extra tickets (i.e GC and FC etc)

The irony of Bon Jovi talking about commerce and saying he doesnt much like it in another thread on this forum is almost painful.

Well giving credit to Bon Jovi, at least they are a real band and sing live on tour, unlike Britney Spears...etc. And its obvious they can charge as much as they want, I would imagine that ticket prices are going to go even more up as artists sell less albums due to illegal downloads...etc. Although I'm not sure how much illegal downloads effect ticket prices, I have a feeling that it's considered to a certain extent.

All down to personal choice,the Paul Stanley ticket prices were a rareity,best 30 dollars i ever spent that said i had to fly across the pond to do it.Last week i flew to the US again and paid 60 dollars to see Ace Frehley and the night before bought a ticket outside the Pru Centre to see Jovi for 40 dollars.Unfortunately these ticket agencies have you by the balls,whatever happened to same price tickets anywhere in the venue and you had to queue at the box office to get the best seats......Those were the days,the loyal fans got their reward...
