Hmmm, just saw this thread as i have been getting the crap kicked outta me on the backing tracks thread...

To be honest i consider myelf a huge jovi fan - i try to bring everyone i can everytime they come...

I couldnt even contemplate not going....

however this is the first time i did not buy tickets bc of the prices...i am hoping they will come down close to the shows as the Giants Stadiumj tickets plummeted...the 3 shows at Giants were 80,000x 3 =240,000 people....

10 shows at Pru is abt 200,000 people so im hoping the prices drop again and scalpers wind up giving them at less than face.

i was shocked when i went on the fan club site and tried to buy tickets and they had options for $600 dollars - FOR THE FANS!!!

I appreciate the guy's pint about Pearl Jam too as i am a big fan of theirs and they really treat the fan club people right.

I dont agree clearly that jovi isnt in the same league as a u2 - but the prices were ridiculous and the even worse for me and prob the tipping point were the fan club prices - even though finally as a fc member i wouldnt have to wait outside!!! but to charge us those prices was very dissappointing...

AND THERE LIP SYNCING ANYWAY! -

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

i know matt is running the fan club now...ive never understood why it isnt better for us...

B) You will begin to attract people to your concerts who don't care one iota about music but only care about being seen to be seen.
I think you're really optimistic in believing that the prices will be lower with the next tour. Now after they see what people are willing to pay? I don't think so.
I think that O2 or Pru show us what we can expected for all the upcoming tours.

And it will happen like it did before in Vegas or at other shows: The first seats will be VIP seats with people who can afford them and that's the reason why they will be there: they can afford it and want to show it.
The fans will be sitting behind this kind of people and will pay a lot of money for this privilege.

But it's not that long 'till we will find out.

Sorry im just not buying that at all. If anything because they are playing 10 nights, they could have lowered the ticket prices. Like PRice did, hes playing 21 nights at the 02 Arena which is also a new venue.

Im going to gig today where il be seeing 4 artists, Arctic Monkeys are headlining, theyve recently had a number 1 single and album here, the ticket price is £30. Says it all.

I wish the band, and yeh Im mostly talking about Jon here, would read that article its very true and well thought out. YEs I have tickets for 2 nights at the Pru but, I do agree that BJ arnt in the same league as MAdonna, U2 etc. It just so happens they are my fave band and stupid people like us will pay those prices.

In fact BJ is one league above, at least.
i agree.. OK so the ticket prices are high but i think to say that BJ isn't in the same league as U2 is a bit extreme.

then why is it, that the prices of the hockey tickets for some of the NHL games are crazy too? I saw tickets for as high as $245 (per seat) for a Devils game at Pru. this

Where for The Thrashers at Philips the seats nearest the ice are $170.

I know that most of ya'll don't care about hockey tickets. but what i am saying is, that the games are going on all season. I think there are like at least 30 homes games for each team. yet the cost of a single ticket w/a good view is expensive. Also, I noted that the Devils tickets are among the highest in the league.

I really don't think that ALL of the blame lays at the band's feet. They are not the "Devils" here. (Yes, the pun was intended. ) I think that there are a lot of factors playing into this. Not just the band.

I do think that once Jovi goes on a full blown tour, we won't see the price of the tickets as high.

on a side note, The reason I have been looking at tickets for the NHL games, is that I really wanted to go to one this year, since I am a big hockey fan. and my favorite player happens to be Johan Hedberg, who plays for the Thraswers....

that being said, I wouldn't have bought a ticket for the Jovi show in Jersey..at least not the more expensive ones. Of course, I really don't have that much money to spare...got way too many medical bills I have to pay off as it is.

Same can be said for a NHL ticket. Though I did see that I could get a ticket for $20.00 at the Thrashers...for a seat way up. don't know if I would want that. for $20.00 I could get a seat right on the ice for the local team.

For ****s sake not this again It was posted on backstage - these prices are not representitive of the tour prices! Also, as someone said, those highest priced tickets probably represent aroun 10-20% of the ones available. As we've already discussed to death, yes, perhaps the band has a say in ticket prices, but this is a run of shows in a brand new venue which will be looking to make as much money as possible, for the venue and the promoter.

If this is how future tours are going to be priced, it will be a big shift in the bands attitude to pricing.
Jon has always said he does his best to keep the prices down and not to do a 'Madonna'. I cannot see any reason why he would suddently go back on that and start charging the earth!
I'm hoping it's just a one off for this event and next years tour will see more sensible prices.
If it dosen't I think the band will have a big shock in how well the tickets will sell!

Okay, so I'm not a backstage member and I've *only* seen the band 15 or so times, but I can pretty much guarantee that with these prices my days of seeing multiple shows are over. Even the 02, which was in many ways a special show, felt overpriced. As much as I love the band, what they offer is not so unique that there isn't an alternative that gives me just as big a high at a much lower price. Of the 10 best shows I've seen, only one has cost more than £50 and half have been less than a tenner.

I really, really would love to hear the band's response to this issue.

Does that really justify them???????

Whoever has built the venue will have done so with the expectation of recouping their costs over a number of years. These prices exploit the sense of event surrounding the opening of a new venue, but even that is ludicrously overhyped. In NY/NY alone, there are already 6 or 7 arena sized venue. Should people really be dancing in the street over another addition - to the point where they are paying $200 over the odds for a concert ticket?

The prices take piss, plain and simple.

I never said that it justified them - but it isn't like every single ****ing ticket is that high price, and people are being held at gunpoint to pay it. As someone said, it's probably 10-20% of the tickets that are the highest prices. I just looked on ticketmaster, and besides the $303 tickets, there are ones available for between $49-128 - and for a run of arena shows like that I personally don't think that is a bad price to pay. Yes, the arena will be there and able to make money for a long time, but they probably wouldn't mind turning a bit of a profit this soon.
