I just looked on ticketmaster, and besides the $303 tickets, there are ones available for between $49-128 - and for a run of arena shows like that I personally don't think that is a bad price to pay. Yes, the arena will be there and able to make money for a long time, but they probably wouldn't mind turning a bit of a profit this soon.
The competing arena Continental Airlines Arena will be closing within the next year even with the moving of this new Meadowlands, Xandu, project.

Thank you Neil for picking up on my pointing out that the $303 tickets are not representative of all of the tickets. Would it be nice to pay the $128 for the front floor sure, but at least they didn't make all the floor seats and lower tier seats above $200.

And again, the cheapest Jovi ticket at the Pru shows is cheaper than Justin Timberlakes's cheapest ticket at CAA.

That was a very well written article. I agree with some of your points, and just respect your opinion because you really put a lot of thought into it.

But I reallllllllly have a hard time believing that the ticket prices from one tour to the next would go up almost 300 dollars LOL, for the top ticket. Those were special shows, a new place, etc. It's a lot, and for those shows I understand the anger, but as some people have said, I'd expect maybe a small jump from the last tour...something like $25 maybe.

I see Jon and the band as music fans, and I really don't think he's gonna start being a prick to HIS fans now.

We'll see...

I consider myself a big fan. I'm also a student. I had tickets for the first night at Wembley- and it was a big enough wrench to spend that money (about £40 as far as i remember). I was gutted when they cancelled because I had to return the ticket as I couldn't afford the cost of the ticket and the travel to Milton Keynes.

I was over the moon when I heard about the o2 show. Absolutely delighted. I was lucky enough to be on the mobile phone network corresponding to the pre-sale, and, having geared myself up to pay about 100-120 quid for 2 tickets, got up before ten and sat refreshing the ticketmaster website.

By this point I had already compromised my £50 ticket price limit; my 'i don't want to have to pay for my boyfriend's ticket' stance; my aversion and mistrust of ticketmaster; I had got out of bed before 10 (which i cannot emphasise enough). I was so shocked when I saw the cheapest tickets were out of my price bracket, and so disappointed. For fifteen minutes I tried to justify spending three weeks rent on (at most) three hours of a show.
I couldn't.

Hopefully the fact that the recent shows have not been part of a full tour is the reason they have been so extortionate. I read Jon in interview saying how he wanted the concerts to be something that ordinary people could afford to go to. Hopefully in future the prices will drop down again as the sizes of the venues/tours increase.

It is every individual's perogative to purchase tickets at whatever price they are prepared to pay. As long as there is a market for such prices, they will be sold. Supply and demand. Even if the band themselves are not tempted, it's a business. someone else will be. If audiences will pay upwards of £50, £60, £100, £120 for a ticket then I can't see why such prices will not continue to be charged.

To me it's a great shame, but it seems to be what happens.

Jovi should be more concerned about their fans than the arena turning a profit, no?

Even if that were a good point, surely something in the middle - but charging that much to FAN CLUB members is OUTRAGEOUS!

Anyone wonder why? It's because the tickets were not selling.

xT
Actually the difference in ticket price was because the pre-sale prices had the 9.99 Itunes download included in each and the balance was a built in convenience charge (about 24.75). The ticket prices now don't include the download charge and have the convenience charge listed separately.

Neil this isnt just about the Prudentitial. Two years ago tickets went on sale for Wembley and they were £95, how much do you think the best tickets will be next year??? Its ok to say you can get a cheap ticket, so thats completely outpricing the diehard fans. Cheers for that.

Fair play to ^^ and explaining the original artical dont care if you were pissed it was very accurate!!

Awesome article. Like I said when I found out about the ticket price, for that amount, they need to do the following in their show:

1. Play the entire first half of 7800 Fahrenheit.
2. Do a reggae version of Wanted DOA.
3. Play In These Arms 3 times, original version, Dave Bryan piano only version and acoustic version.
4. Jon sings Stranger In This Town while standing on his head.
5. Play an acoustic version of Out Of Bounds.
6. Fire Robo Bass and bring Alec John Such back.
7. Richie Sambora breathes fire.

I have to say I'm too broke to afford a 500.00 ticket this year. It makes me feel bad that I will miss such a great time in Jersey & I have been a fan for 20years. I also feel like, at these prices I cant afford to be a fan, how sad is that. I've tried to get a reasonably priced ticket with a view, there is no such thing. I paid 400.00 to see them at Soldiers Field in Chicago 2006, that set me back on some things. Good luck to all those who can afford the concert and to the boys in the band.
