Wow. That was a very thought provoking article. I have to say there are points that i both agree and disagree with.

In fact, the only two acts who charge more than what Bon Jovi is asking for are the Rolling Stones and Barbara Streisand. I'm not making excuses or trying to justify either act but they were out there performing when Jon Bon Jovi was still in diapers. Did I mention these tickets are $100 more than seeing a Beatle?I love Bon Jovi as much as anyone, specifically because their live shows triumph time and time again, but they are not in the same league as many of the aforementioned acts. One Bon Jovi ticket for these Newark shows costs more than TWO U2 tickets from their 2005 tour (including service charges). Once again, no disrespect to Bon Jovi, but they're not in the same league as U2.
Okay, i think that all those acts mentioned charge way too much money too, and Barbra Streisand is ridiculous b/c she charges minimum i think $750 per ticket. But i don't agree that Bon Jovi is not in the same league as KISS, Aerosmith, Madonna or U2, etc. And I am soooooooooo sick of everyone thinking that U2 is the greatest thing to ever record music. I think U2 is one of the most overrated bands of all time.

If they treated their fans with respect and continued to push the creative envelope like they did in the 1990's, then maybe they would. But I don't think Bon Jovi has made music from the heart in a very long time.
I disagree with that. I think they still make music from the heart. If they didn't i think that the majority of their fans would have abandoned them a loong time ago.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a more disappointing or discourteous ticket price in my life. I've seen Bon Jovi dozens of times in the last seven years with a ticket price ranging from $27 to $125. I've taken issue with their prices since the summer leg of the ‘Bounce' tour where most tickets ran around $100. In my opinion, no concert should ever cost more than $100. It's not worth it. I also tend to have a rule that any concert that costs more than $1 a minute isn't worth it. If I were to follow this rule it would take Bon Jovi 5 and ½ hours to make these shows worthwhile.
When you put at it that way it is pretty unbelievable to look at. But when i am at a Bon Jovi show being entertained and being awed by this band that i love more than any other artist from the past, present, or future i can tell you that the last thing on my mind is how much money i paid for the ticket or how much money the band is raking in that night. I have never left a Bon Jovi concert thinking i didn't get my money's worth.

while the band will be left with nothing but a bunch of fair weathered soccer mom's who may or may not buy the latest Bon Jovi album. In truth, whether they buy it or not will probably depend on how good Jon Bon Jovi's ass looks on ‘The View'.
That is so stereotypical of what their fan base is. Of course there are some people who are fans b/c of Jon's looks but you can't make this assumption. There are millions of people who are fans who are in it for the music, not Jon's ass.

Jon Bon Jovi needs to understand that his core group of fans is not millionaires with expendable income. A wise man once told me, "To understand a fan, you have to be one". What would Jon Bon Jovi have done if Southside Johnny, J Giles Band and Bruce Springsteen had charged a week's salary to see one of their shows? Would Jon have been inspired to make music and change lives?
Excellent point. Something to think about.

With the prices Bon Jovi is charging for these shows, this level of devotion will be hard to find.
I just don't think that is true. I really think that sadly most fans will pay whatever the band is asking for. (Me included.) Do i wish ticket prices were lower? Of course. But I don't follow the band and fly all over to see them on tour. I don't go into debt to see the band. I usually do two or three shows a tour. And i am always left wanting more.

Bottom line is if it comes down to paying alot of $ for a Bon Jovi concert or not seeing Bon Jovi on tour at all then i am going to pay the money. I have no idea how long the band will tour for. So I am going to see them while I can, regardless of ticket prices. Life is too short. You need to do what makes you happy and seeing this band live still makes me happier than anything else in this world.

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3
