Default Auckland Show Has Been Moved Indoors!

October 12, 2010
AUCKLAND SHOW TO NOW PLAY INDOORS!

Rock’s global icons, Bon Jovi, return to New Zealand in December as part of The Circle world tour.

Bon Jovi will play Westpac Stadium in Wellington on December 4 as originally scheduled, however the Auckland show on December 5 has been moved indoors to Vector Arena.

Said Promoter Paul Dainty “When we planned the tour we believed we could move the huge Wellington outdoor show to Auckland overnight but with the sheer scale of their show this has proved unachievable. We have been forced to move the 5th December show indoors to Vector Arena.”

Ticketholders for the Auckland show will be contacted by Ticketek to arrange replacement tickets for the new venue OR a refund. 0800 Ticketek (0800 842 53 or www.ticketek.co.nz.

Replacement tickets will be issued by Ticketmaster from the 1st November at which time all enquiries should be directed to 09 970 9700 (0800 111 999) or www.ticketmaster.co.nz for further details.

The Circle tour will see the band spend much of the next two years on the road, performing a staggering 135 shows in 30 countries. This brand new stadium stage production coming to New Zealand is one of the biggest sets ever to be seen in this country. Powered by 800,000 watts of sound and containing close to 10,000 pounds of high definition video technology, it will blow fans away!

Having sold more than 120 million albums and performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans, Bon Jovi is at their best when they’re on the move, and that’s truer now than ever before. The November 10th, 2009 release of Bon Jovi’s new album, The Circle, and the band’s subsequent world tour, provides a powerful reassertion of Bon Jovi’s commitment to hard-hitting rock & roll that has been the band’s indelible signature since it began more than 26 years ago.

So the promoter announced the shows months ago but only just found out about the size of the stage and the fact that they can' get it from Wellington to Auckland in time? I highly doubt it.

I think it's a lot more likely that ticket sales would have been very disappointing. Mount Smart Stadium (the initial venue) holds 35-40,000 people for concerts whereas Vector Arena holds about 11,500 people during concerts. Consequently, had they sold about half the tickets of the stadium gig, they would have announced two indoor shows.

I must say, I never understood why they announced 2 NZ gigs and decided to have both of them on the North Island. Last time they played Christchurch (on the South Island) they had a sell-out crowd of about 40,000 people. Even Pearl Jam (with Ben Harper) only managed to sell 25,000 tickets and they're massive down there.

Yeah, it's bullshit. They just couldn't sell the tickets and now move the show to an indoor arena. And the fact that they can fit it in a place that holds 11.500 people it actually means that not even 1/3 of the tickets had been sold.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Def doesnt make sense.
People are expected to believe that the same amount of people will fit in doors as a stadium (unless as people are saying it hasnt sold well)
Could this set a standard for the European leg.-if they dont sell they will move it indoors rather than reducing the initial price of tickets

Like everyone else here, I'm calling bullshit. Obviously this has to do with ticket sales.

The original stadium held 47,000 for concerts... this arena holds about 12,000... Maths has never been a strength for me but I'd say that's a pretty significant reduction.

Im actually not so sure that the promoter is lying. I have been keeping a close eye on the ticket sales and they went off sale a few months before this announcement. I spoke to ticket master today who are re allocating the tickets and apparantly they are way over capacity for the tickets available so not sure how they are planning to manage that!

But then again that could all be bullshit too!

From what I've been looking at on available tickets on many of the European dates, many are almost already sold out. The European leg is selling really well. And it's only NOVEMBER!

Yeah i agree, European shows are almost sold out, i just checked on Eventim for Vienna and Munich and both are close to sold out, soo i think its the same with rest of the venues!
Its been a while when the shows were selling out so good in Europe. I think its the first time .
I still think that they will add more shows in Europe!
