If the album was recorded the way the last one was then maybe not, it sounds like he was there for the majority of the recording process. Plus the promotional events, media appearances and whatever shows follow. Once the machine starts rolling it probably severely limits what you can do.

Watching a few more of these vids i couldn't help but notice that Jon is almost unable to strum his acoustic and sing at the same time. On Saturday Night he might as well have just put the damn thing back....

Just enjoy the experience, chances are Jon will up his game on the bigger stages for South America, and even if he doesn't just enjoy the songs anyway. The band is tight and you'll be too busy in the moment to really concentrate on Jon's voice, it'll only be after the fact that you'll watch videos and realized he sucked singing this or that and "hey yeah, I remember that note, he nailed that one but the other 100 not so much"....

Noticed the same thing. He also has stopped playing during portions of Wanted recently. Didn't even attempt it with I'll Be There For You.

But after watching the videos from l last night, I have to agree with what you said - except I do sympathize. Jon's between a rock and a hard place. He's recorded the album, people are expecting a tour, and despite his words to the contrary, I think he does have something to prove - to himself, to Richie, to the critics, and to the world-at-large. He needs to know for himself, if no one else, that he and the band are still alive and kicking.

It breaks my heart to say it, but I honestly think Jon needs to stop. Not quit, not end the band; but just STOP. For however long it takes to 1) get whatever therapy - psychological, physical, speech, occupational, yoga whatever - that he needs, 2) retrain his voice through consistent vocalizing to gradually build his strength back up (if he's not doing that already, which he may be) and 3) decide where he wants to take the band within the parameters of his abilities - after he knows what those parameters are.

Then come back fresh.

If he wants to. Because he loves it. Not to show the world that he's not beholden to anyone and not because he's concerned about what ppl might think of he doesn't.

After last night, I can't imagine that Bon Jovi is going to be able to give quality shows in SA. Jon's broken. But it's not just Jon. The band wasn't up to the level of performance one would expect from Bon Jovi, either.

IMO, Jon needs to admit to the SA fans that the band is unable to provide performances that are up to Bon Jovi standards, give them their money back - now, before any more irreversible plans are made - and promise to come back whenever what's broken gets fixed.

I think the casuals would get over it and the die-hards would respect him for his honesty and integrity in refusing to give them less than their money's worth.

That's just my opinion, but I know I would respect him more for doing it.
After seriously thinking about the situation for the last couple of days, I hate to say this but I agree. The poor guy has to take a break and get himself together again. I still think the Richie fiasco is bothering him, whether he's ever going to admit it or not. But Jon clearly hasn't been "himself" for the last four-and-a-half years. Not on stage, not in (TV) interviews... nowhere. It's like he's lost his joy of life. I know Jon's never been the one of the band to crack jokes and laugh all the time (that used to be Richie - and maybe Alec in the old days), but even considering that, he seems exceptionally serious nowadays. He's clearly insecure every time he gets up on stage and at times it even looks like he doesn't really know what to do while singing. Compared to today, Jon was a f***ing Duracell bunny on stage in early '13 (while everyone was complaining here that Jon wasn't moving at all) - at least back then he was still able to WALK around the stage and sing in tune at the same time:

I'm in no rush for a new album either.
I personally think they should call it quits.
I love them but the last 3 albums have been really patchy.
His voice is gone, his stage presence is gone, Richie's gone, the magics gone.
Shame.

In reading all of these recent posts, I honestly do not know what you want Jon to do, he is not the same guy he was in the 80's, 90's or even the 2000's, but I guess you can't make everyone happy, if Jon read this board, (and I know he doesn't) but if he did, he would probably sit down, puts his hands up, and just say, 'I give up, I can't win with these people', and I wouldn't blame him for giving up, but since he doesn't read this board, he moves on and does what he loves, even though you don't love it anymore. BTW, I found these pix of Jon today in the Hamptons, getting ready for the SA tour, at least he is not sitting on his butt all day, you can't say he is lazy. https://www.facebook.com/BONJOVIALWA...257810/?type=3

Rosa... Jon keeping in shape isn't what people are complaining about...

I think most are trying to figure out if he's maximizing what's left of his vocals abilities or if he's taking the easy way out...

I'm a big Jon defender but that last vocal performance was horrendous!

i'll admit it was'nt his best, but he is still doing what he enjoys. What I don't understand is why ppl here think he does'nt care, or as jackieblue commented, its psychological, that he is going through personal issues or the one that confuses me the most, lack of confidence! IDK where jackieblue got that from, but a person who doesn't have confidence he or she would not even step foot on a stage. Another thing we should consider is this. I think Jon knows himself that his voice is not up to par as it was before, but did he ever quit or give up? or walked off the tour completely? The only time he did in the last tour was when he got very sick with bronchitis, but after he recovered he finished the tour, so this whole lack of confidence thing really confuses me, because anyone else would have thrown in the towel a long time ago.
