IDK where jackieblue got that from, but a person who doesn't have confidence he or she would not even step foot on a stage. Another thing we should consider is this. I think Jon knows himself that his voice is not up to par as it was before, but did he ever quit or give up? or walked off the tour completely? The only time he did in the last tour was when he got very sick with bronchitis, but after he recovered he finished the tour, so this whole lack of confidence thing really confuses me, because anyone else would have thrown in the towel a long time ago.
The whole "no confidence" thing is just a theory. No one really knows and I think the theory is kind of hokey, but it's one of a few explanations that can explain just how fast Jon's voice deteriorated in the last 4 years. It's not his fault and I don't think anyone blames him for losing his voice. No, Jon is not a quitter and no he is not lazy. He is, however, putting out a far inferior product to past versions and charging more than ever for it. I think we all root for Bon Jovi. We want their next album to be their best. Their next show and tour to be the best. This is a Bon Jovi message board. This is the place to go to celebrate their brilliance as well as discuss disappointment and frustration with their current mediocrity.

Rosa, if I believed that for one minute, I wouldn't have said a word about it because, imo, that's about all that matters. I wasn't criticizing Jon when I said he needs to get help - psychological or otherwise. What I meant was he needs to do whatever is necessary to take care of himself and find his bliss again. Since i-Heart, I've seen very little that makes me think Jon or the band are enjoying anything about it anymore. And I've seen nothing since the release of THINFS, that convinces me.

When the THINFS video was released, a few people said the band looked happy and cohesive. The same people comment, now, about how everybody's happy with the status quo and Jon and the band seem to be enjoying themselves. I honestly wish that some of you would tell me, specifically, what makes you believe that; because, hand to God, I just can't see it.

Smiles look forced because the joy never seems to reach their eyes. Jon says the right words; but there's no conviction. He's visably anxious in group interviews when anybody but him has the mic. It's like he's holding his breath, hoping they won't say the wrong thing.

On stage, stress is evident in Jon's countenance, in his rigid posture, and in the lack of mobility. It's not just that he doesn't move away from the mic; what concerns me is the death-grip he has on it. He looks like he's literally hanging on by a thread.

I'm sorry; but I don't see a man who's doing what he enjoys at all. What I see is somebody with dogged determination to push through, come hell or high water; not because he wants to, but because, for whatever reason, he feels like he has to.

I've posted this video before because it's one of my favorites. I loved the video of the fan club tribute in Milan, too, where I think Jon may have been at his most genuine in 2013 but, even then, he seemed overwhelmed by bittersweet emotions.

This one is the last time I can remember seeing Jon truly enjoying himself on stage and even then it lasted a very short time. But for those few minutes, Jon looked like he was totally caught up in the pure joy of entertaining and having fun with all of it.

That's the Jon I want to see again. I can live with imperfect performances. I just want to see him and the band get their joy back.

I hate to say it, but I'd have to agree.

Also, call me superficial, but with the grey hair, the coolness has gone, at least partially. That would be easier to overlook, if he genuinely had fun or the voice of 2013 at least, but it would still be there. In 2013, Jon already didn't look as cool as in 2010/2011, but he was still looking the "star". Starting with 2014, he looks more like an aged singer songwriter, not like a rock star...

For me, he looks like a complete different person... inside and outside

I used to have a problem with the grey but as long as he wears it right and doesn't look like a homeless person, I'm okay with it...

You want your rock star to look like a rock star and there is a 'cool factor' associated with it... Image has always been part of rock and rock, even dating back to the early Elvis days... There is also a youth factor that falls in right behind as well.

The music should always come first but the image is close behind. If Jon wants to get some buzz around a new song, promoting it with long grey brittle hair doesn't help its chances.

That These Days is terrible. Time to call it quits guys, Bon jovi was always about the big vocals.

You know it's a dead band when Supersonic doesn't even come bash the band.
