Default Australia Confirmed!!

Bon Jovi will return to Australia on two-year world tour

Jon Bon Jovi says he and the band will come to Australia on their world tour.
US rockers Bon Jovi have confirmed Australia will be part of their world tour in support of the new album The Circle.

While no dates are locked in yet, frontman Jon Bon Jovi says Australia will "absolutely'' feature in their 30-country, two-year tour, which kicks off in February.

He admits his band has some work to do in this part of the world.

"One of our few regrets is the way we toured in the last decade was much more civilised than when we were young bucks and would go out for 200-250 show tours,'' Bon Jovi told AAP from Tokyo.

"So we neglected a whole region of the world, including Australia, which we always loved immensely, and by neglecting it we lost our footing there.

"The last record we came back and started to re-establish that, and with our hearts on our sleeves I can tell you we are going to spend a lot more time in Australia, starting with this record.''

The Circle is the New Jersey band's 11th studio album.

Due for release on November 6, the record sees Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora writing songs inspired by politics and world events.

"We started writing a couple of boy/girl songs, a Richie-got-out-of-rehab kind of a song, and we were going, `uggh, this is just tedious and it's not going anywhere','' Bon Jovi explained.

"Then last October the whole world changed - this economic downturn, we named a candidate for president, and suddenly there's lots of subject matter.''

In the first single off the album, We Weren't Born To Follow, he sings "this road was paved by the hopeless and the hungry'', while urging listeners to "believe that the sun will shine tomorrow''.

Bon Jovi said he has always been an optimist, even when times are toughest.

"You saw what was going on, there were those moments where you'd think, wow is this the beginning of the end?'' he said.

"And yet, we've always tried to find the optimism in any situation, simply because I think that's what fuels you.

"Without optimism that kind of defeatist attitude won't really win you any battles will it?''

The song has been snapped up by radio stations around the country - something the 47-year-old singer said he never takes for granted.

He said the band has high hopes for the song.

"This is one of those (like) Livin' On A Prayer, It's My Life, Who Says You Can't Go Home - this is like one of those monsters,'' he said.

To coincide with the release of The Circle, eight cinemas around the country will screen a new documentary about the band called Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful, on November 5.

Bon Jovi said it is neither a retrospective nor a concert film. Instead it's a peak behind the scenes of being in one of the world's most successful bands.

"If you want to see what it's going to be like when I hang up this phone and I'm sitting in this hotel room for the next three or four or five days, and I don't even have the gift of going out to play a show tomorrow, that's really what we wanted to show you,'' he said.

''(It's about) what life is like inside this organisation.''

Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful will screen at Hoyts cinemas in Broadway, Penrith and Chatswood in NSW, Melbourne Central and Chadstone in Victoria, Perth Carousel in Western Australia, Woden in the ACT, Adelaide Norwood in South Australia, and AMC Brisbane in Queensland.

Yes! Catch you on the tour, Sav.

Apparently Gavin Miller (96fm) just did an interview with Richie in which he said they'd probably be here mid 2011 and had Perth on the cards again. I didn't hear it though.

This is great news. I may finally be able to see BJ live now that I have moved here in Oz. I wonder which of my friends I can convince to go with me? My friends are not really into rock music (although Bon jovi isn't really rocking now, IMO). And with these ticket prices, I may have to go alone. It's not as much fun as when you're with friends.

It was a #1 hit in US. I mean, it even inspired the band to release LH!

In the ****ing country charts. Not in the Billboard Hot 100, like Livin' On A Prayer was.

Salaam Aleikum,

No where near being a number one hit. There are dozens of these not so important charts in US and the only important one is HOT 100. WSYCGH was #23 at its peak if I remember correctly. It's amazing how Jon always brings this number one thing up when it really wasn't a number one! OK, it was, but you get my point. And all the talk about over 120mil album sales, pathetic. Just like in the document, it was all about Jon telling the world how big and important we are. Let the music do the talking!

Wow that sounds good, especially hearing about the regrets, as their tour schedules have really been not that amazing on the last tours. So I also hope they are returning to South America and to asian countries other than Japan.

True, but Jon never conquered that charts before. That's why he was impressed. You know him.
