They just add to the sound. They're not distracting at all. So instead of there being 2 guitars, sometimes there are 3 because sometimes Jon, Richie, and Bobby are all playing guitar. Bobby, Jeff, and Dave all seem to do backing vocals more than Richie. To me, the band does sound better now than they did before; they sound fuller. It's not hurting the show for the extra guys to be there.

Obviously you have a right to your opinion.

To me, it's NOT Bon Jovi with those guys doing extra guitars and keys AND backing vocals.

I guess I'm the only one who sees this irony:

A band that used to be a 5-piece became a 4-piece when they kicked their original bass player out. They hired a bass player (they obviously HAD to have one) for live shows AND studio work, but refused to let him be named as a member of the band. 10 plus years later, they've added 2 more musicians to their live show...but these guys obviously aren't members of Bon Jovi either. They're just "filling out the sound', playing some of Richie's solos, and singing more backup than he is. ???? I find this....disturbing.

But like I said, that's just my opinion.

Got a couple of questions here.
1) Why was Alec John Such kicked out of Bon Jovi?
2) Why was Hugh McDonald never made an offical member of Bon Jovi?

Thanks in advance

Ali.

These two have been discussed to death. Use the search.

I don't find that ironic. Bon Jovi is a business and the business has 4 members - for whatever reason it was determined to keep it at four after Alec left. Bringing more people on tour instead of making them full band members is a business decision. Nothing more and nothing less. I personally don't care at all.

I do agree with Javier's statement of the two dudes making Hugh look like a party animal and that they truly are not taking away the show...

Clearly they're taking SOMETHING away from the show if they're singing backup more than Richie is.

What's next? Two drummers?

Tico would crush the other one with his bare hands. They don't need the lawsuit.

I didn't think they took away from anything at all. I didn't even really notice them except when Jon directly acknowledged their presence.

I still hate the fact that they're there.

It's bad enough that they have Hugh as a bassplayer and now these guys come along. I'd rather have a less full sound than those guys rounding it out. I like the raw live sound they had, it shouldn't become to slick.

I sincerely hope they do NOT come to Europe, although I have little hope...

"Bad enough that they have Hugh"

Could you explain that statement?
