My comment about Hugh is about his being not so present on stage. Bon Jovi should be about rock music and I'm sorry to say that there's nothing even resembling rock about Hugh.

Still, I don't care too much that he's the bass player, but the new guys...
I'm sorry but they don't fit in and they don't need them. If the sound isn't that good anymore play some tapes in the background like U2 do. It's the feeling of seeing the guys on stage and two additional players just doesn't seem right. For one or two songs it's fine by me and changes up stuff like inviting Little Steven or other musicians, but not like this.

At least... that's my opinion.

From the shows I saw and the Nokia live video Bobby didn't once solo in a "hit" song... There is a few times like in Bad Name where Bobby plays the power chords in the intro and Richie does the intro solo thing - but thats how it is on the record. Just look at Bobby's setup... two guitars and one amp vs. 10+ guitars, and 4 amps, pedals, and such that Richie uses - if Bobby was "really" soloing more/in the mix more he would have a bigger setup.

Atleast in this case the extra musicians are on the stage and not under it(like U2 and Black Sabbath) or on some tape(KISS, Motley Crue).

But is it possible that the 2nd guitarist, who has played some solos live and apparently done more backing vocals than ritchie, is going to replace ritchie as lead guitarist if he decides to leave?
I mean hugh has been around as a studio musician with jovi long before he took alecs job.
Could this be Jovi's new lead guitarist learning his trade in the shadows of the live tour?
And if it is, will jon allow him any songwriting duties on a new album, or should we expect another destination anywhere under a new brand?

God i'm getting paranoid- haha
That's silly. They're just using two new guys to fill out the sound. That's ALL it is.

I beg to differ, Hugh is the closest definition to a rock. He just stands there and does nothing, much like a rock. You know what I mean?

I'm pretty sure Jeff and Bobby are actually ninjas, sent by Axl Rose to kill Jon and the boys, and they're only stopped from actually murdering them because the only time they are allowed near the band is onstage and Axl demanded there be no witnesses. If they are kept on with the band, it could be the end of Bon Jovi as we know it. Your underreaction scares me, sir.

I'm sorry but the whole thing is just hypocritcal to me. How can people laugh at the fan girls that are just there for Jons looks when people look down on Hugh for how HE looks. Big whoop, he doesn't jump. Give me a solid musician over Alec ANY day.

Agreed - Hugh is an excellent bass player. His bass line is tight and crisp. If you really listen to Alec on bootlegs (remember Hugh played on the albums) he is sloppy as hell. As for looks - pffffftttt..... who cares. Put a bag over his head, he will still play his instrument better than Alec.

I realize that this is not a popular opinion - Alec gets the sympathy vote - but still - musicianship counts.

*high five* Agreed. I'm in it for the music, not how many jumping jacks the bassist can do. Alec was a sloppy player, it's a fact.
