No, it was a good, solid performance, lasted more than 2 hours, and if you don't see them often, you wouldn't pick up on the things that we did, because there weren't glaring errors or noticeable problems.
my Dad only ever saw Bon Jovi in 1996 and my mum and sister have never seen them live but they are all able to say that Jon's voice was dreadful, flat, struggling... and he wasn't even attempting very difficult songs for his voices...

personally i enjoyed the fact that he struggled during Shout - because the optimistic part of me thought "he'll never want to play that song again after the mess he made of it tonight"

but i'm sure we'll see it for 99.9% of the bands shows from here and forever

I think what you quoted was referring to the Chicago show, not Alpine. As for the encore at Alpine...I downloaded the mp3s to hear what everyone was talking about, and they sounded like shit. No wonder everyone thinks Jon sounded bad. On the mp3s he did...live he didn't. I wonder what they did to make them sound so bad?

sorry to disappoint you but they didn't break it big in the USA first - they were big in Japan and Europe even before the first Americans heard of them

Actually, their debut album went higher on the charts over here than in the UK. USA #43 UK#68

And..Slippery When Wet never even made it to number one in the UK. Peak position was 6!!! For shame!!! :P

Yes, fair enough..a part of Europe then.

I can't find the album sales from other places besides the UK.

But BJ debuted here and was pretty popular right from the start with Runaway! MTV loved to play that video all of the time.
