Default Banners

OK, so Seb mentioned in another thread about banners, maybe we should share ideas, see if a load of us can arrange to have the same ones at the same shows, get a strong message across.

Obviously sometimes it's about requesting specific songs, so it depends what we all want, but sometimes I like seeing the ones with puns, a bit of word-play with the song titles/lyrics. I only started this because I was out earlier and thought of one myself...

"You've seen our faces - now rock them all"

Yes, I know it's crap, but I like it Or how about

"Hey Jon! Seems like all the good sets have gone"

Aloha !

I think just a play with words makes no sense if you're not requesting a song. I don't get this idea of a banner that just says something. What's the point of that?

"I've been to 50 shows!" "

Well yay, good for you. What do you expect? A thumbs up from Jon? Telling the band that you've been to 50 shows makes just as much sense as "Yesterday I brushed my teeth while listening to Bon Jovi"

It's not going to change anything. Request a song or bugger off.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Deal. You hold up your tits and I'll write it down. It might take some time though, I'm a perfectionist.

Well if we're being pedantic then why bother going to shows at all? The songs are mostly the same, you could just get a bootleg, right? Everyone does different things for whatever reason - and it's not like request banners are guaranteed to work anyway.

That's not making any sense either. I'm going there for the music, to hear them live, which is why the band performs, right? I'm not there to get a nod from Jon or a thumbs up or whatever. I know banners do not always work, but it gives you the opportunity to make a request and make you able to hear a song live.

I just absolutely don't get what you're trying to achieve with a banner that's not requesting anything. The idea is completely pointless to me, and if anyone can explain to me what the point is of having a banner that says "I've been to 50 shows" please enlighten me.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Well if you don't 'get it' then no ammount of explanation will make you. There's a lot of things that people like which I don't 'get' but am not going to stop them doing because it makes no difference to me.

Eh? I'm not going to stop them either ey, although a banner with the text "**** off with your pointless banners" would be funny.

It would be somewhat ironic though if you did that

For me though I just thought that a silly one would just be a bit of fun - it's not just the band who might see anyway, but if you ended up on the screens or whatever then everyone else would get a look too, perhaps end up seeing youself on a bootleg or in someones photos. I can understand how you'd not be interrested in that, just each to his own really.

I could always write something on the back of my banner in Germany. "You krauts suck at soccer" for example. Sure that'd be nice wouldn't it?
