Barcelona 20th may 2003 first European gig

11.07 our train is leaving from the station, we are now officially on our way to Barcelona. After 2 hours with the train we arrived at Schiphol airport. Because we wanted a cheap flight we had chosen easyjet. Which was the first and last time. We were in the plane at 2.30 pm and we left Schiphol airport around 3.30 pm. That means a delay of more then 30 minutes. So we sat down in those small chairs for almost 2,5 hours.
After we arrived in Barcelona we raced through the airport terminal to get a taxi that could bring us to the stadium. We arrived at the stadium at 5.30 pm. That means we had 1 hour to pick up our tickets, no problem you think, well it was cause we had to walk all around the stadium before we were at the box-office. It took us nearly 45 minutes to get back to the fanclubentrance. Lucky us we were on time! The queue for the fanclub entrance was very short. Right on time the start checking our tickets, fanclubpasses and gave us the wristband. We made again a line and they told us how it all gonna work in Spanish so we didn’t understand. They checked our bags and we walked into the stadium. It all went very good. When we entered the stadium the band was behind the stage and we saw them. Then everybody got a spot in the first row. It was amazing I made it first row without queuing. I stood right in front of David. The only bad thing about this venue was that there wasn’t a pit so all the general public came in…. and guess what….we had to stand up for 2 hours before the band started. In those 2 hours we were pushed and it was so hot. Lots of people get unwell and there were people fainting all the time.

Around 9.30 pm Bon Jovi entered the stage (one wild night indoor stage) with Bounce. The crowed rocked but not as I am used to in Germany and Holland. Bounce was immediately followed by You give love a bad name. Jon was in a good mood and David was smiling and making funny moves. It promised to be a good start for the European tour. The rocked on with Wild in the streets and then started with a slow intro for Living on a prayer. Jon announced the next song as the first single and Everyday made the hole stadium going crazy. Jon kept on going, that means no talking just singing. The set went on with Keep the faith, Wanted dead or alive, The distance, It’s my life and Misunderstood during this song David was acting like the guy in the clip. It was great to see him having so much fun.
After Misunderstood they played Someday I’ll be saterday night. Then David said down and played an amazing solo. Jon walked towards his microphone and started singing Ride side of wrong. Wow that sounded great! He was singing towards Richie. It was amazing. After “wait till we tell the girl we’re moving down to the gulf of Mexico” Jon went to the centre of the stage and sat down singing the rest of the song. Like he was telling a story. It was amazing to see it.
Then Jon asked if it was okay if Richie would sing a song for us, and guess what he was singing….. right I’ll be there for you. Then the crowed screamed Richie richie and Jon gave him all thanked him and graped his guitar and they play Blaze of glory. Then they started Born to be my baby and there was this girl in one of the stagepits. When Jon came towards her she got his hand and kissed it. Jon walked away and when he walked again in front of David he turned around and called her up the stage. She just kissed him right on his mouth. Jon acted like he was shocked and kissed her back. Then they danced and at the end he kissed her again. She went back in the pit and Jon walked through the centre of the stage. Then he called her again and she kissed him again. It was so funny to see. Hugh kept on talking about it to Jon. He just smiled and made fun of it.
As a complete surprise they played Runaway followed by I’ll sleep when I’m dead without a medley. But it was cool. The hole stadium was jumping. They kept on rocking with Raise your hands. That’s how the main set ended.

They came back and surprised us with In these arms. David was flirting and smiling to us all the time. It was great. Then we stadium went from the left to the right for Captain Crash.
Jon asked us if there was a docter in the house and they played bad medicine followed as usual with Shout. They thanked the crowed and the show ended. Tico got Jons microphone and said a simple sentence in Spanish. Still don’t know what that was.

It was an amazing start for the European tour. Well I am on my way to Erfurt….
