He meant "we never rehearse" as "we very very rarely ever rehearse". So on one of those rare occasions (Sunday), Richie was missing.

That's because (apparantly) unlike you, some people on here can actually predict a song from start to finish now whenever Bon Jovi start playing something. Bon Jovi are no longer a band that writes songs that change their hook all of a sudden. If you've heard the first verse and chorus you're pretty much able to say as to whether you'll like it or not.

I'm getting a bit tired of people critisizing others for not liking something as opposed to getting into a debate with the same people over the reason why they don't like it. If you can't pick up on the same things others can within a few seconds you ought to wonder as to what you're missing out and aren't hearing as opposed to slating the opinion of such people simply because you disagree with them.0

It's not negative posts about the music that bring the negativity on this board. It's the constant negative posts about users that start all arguments all the time.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
Wrong on so many levels, i like a good debate, thats why i come on here, i was pointing out that the vibe on here sometimes is that of people wanting the band to fail.

Its not just me thats noticed it, i am not suggesting for one minute that everyone likes every song, there are some "hits" that i am not keen on but thats individual taste.

Does that mean the band is over? finished? ofcourse not. We should be glad that after 30 years they are still bringing out original material.

I agree to a certain extent that you an get a vibe for a song after a chorus etc, but i still feel its to early to judge. Did we all like something to believe in the first time? or hey god etc etc etc. i bet if you look back you can think of a few songs that the first time you heard them you thought "nah not for me" then they ended up being one of your favorates.

Here's my issue with your point and it sums up exactly what Seb was talking about (I am agreeing with Seb again... twice since the turn of the year)

You and many others can be glad that they are bringing out original material but the fact is, WE don't have to be anything at all.

The simplistic view would be to say, 'if you don't like any of their post-2000 stuff, why be here? Why bother?' There's a simple answer to that.

Some of us preferred the old stuff. This band became part of my life when I was 14 and so their songs leaked into my psyche and the next ten years were spent hanging on their every note; waiting for magazines to drop with news; taping Dial MTV to catch BOR, HG or Always. We know these guys, paired up with the right producer, working with the right song writers, can come up with gold.

We have every right to say some are settling for less when we hear TWTWMM is up there with their best work. It's not even up there with Woman In Love. That's an opinion and it's valid. Lyrically, it's a million miles away. We are not snobs and you are not idiots. You don't love the band and we don't hate them.

There's room for everyone, some people just need to stop telling everyone that just because they think this is the best album in years, every other opinion doesn't count.

My personal feeling is well documented following the show the other night but I did like the reaction of Jon to Jo Whiley's question, 'how do you know you're still relevant?'

Chris
I remember when I begun to like Bon Jovi...it was around 2002 (Misunderstood did a lot of succes here in Brazil in this era) and a cousin of mine lent me "Cross Road". And I asked: "there's misunderstood here???" He said: "no, but there's another couple of songs that you'll like.."

He was very right, but I took a lot of time to like "You Give Love A Bad Name". And I never had patience to hear "Lay Your Hands" because of the intro...The same with "Livin' On A Prayer". (not today, of course)

I don't know why every thread has to end in the same discussion. I read all the opinions here...And I'm glad that I have a place to talk with other people about the band that I love (it's almost impossible here in Brazil) and is good to see that Bon Jovi is still making people discuss about them.
After all, are more than 30 years! Some will like the new album, some won't.
Just it. And let's moving on!

good post!

I never said there was not room for everyone on here, i was simply saying that for me, some people on here are way to quick to judge and i do think that they in a round about way want the band to fail.

I take on board what you said though

i ve listened the radio stream and watched twice the videos from bbc afterwards and here is my review...!!!

WOW!!!

army of one: GREAT track!!!absolutely loved it, one of the best,if not the best since its my life i dare to say!!!there were great songs in the post 2000 albums but they needed stronger vocals from jon to rock...(last man standing for example),it is fresh, pop in a good way,i was truly impressed, this song will be monumental live, mark my words...9/10

what the water made me: strong song, nice vibe, the "heroes"melody puts me off a little but if you put it aside i believe its a really nice song that suits them
, it will also be great live, 8/10

i'm with you:nice song, it could be a better single, unfortunately we all know that if the first single tanks the second must be a masterpiece to attract attention 7,5-8/10

what about now:nice song, nothing too special imo, still better than because we can, 3 guitars and still sth sounds wrong in the arrangments...jon shouldnt play in every song for starters , richie should stop playing only power chords, and bobby(even if i dont like what i write) should be higher in the mix when he is playing important parts and not just fills 6,5/10

amen:it has a flow, its melodicaly smart BUT such a hallelugah(i dont remember how its spelled) wanna be...on top of that jons bad voice in the chorus killed it for me, in the album it will be better suppose 5/10

because we can: once more one weak song is chosen to represent an album. 4,5/10

whats left in me: interesting rocker, i liked the 12 string, i believe its a tie with what about now for me...6,5/10

i didnt expect to play seven new songs!!!richie needs to up his game, as the tour begins i guess he ll lean the new songs better. jons vocals are what they are...he is 50, he wont sing always for example like the song deserves to be sang.having said that he has clearly realised that he must use his voice differently and go for different not easier though vocal melodies...

totally impressed by the potential of army one, and really really enjoyed i m with you and what the water made me.

ps:has anyone listened a snippet from the upcoming guns n roses 3d dvd??axl was singing paradise city and his voice was so weak...it was painful(even in the edited version, it wasnt a bad night on youtube...), i guess many casuals willl say the same for jon listening the album versions and the live ones...imo though jon sounds better, at least on dvd releases.
