Exactly.

Just check out ebay or stub-hub the day of any concert.

Exactly correct. This is a GROSS revenue figure which means if the ticket is sold ONE time it counts. This is NOT who shows up or which tickets were bought by scalpers or those that are discounted and/or given given away (that will show up in a net revenue figure). And yes, every promoter reports this way mainly because it's the start of the cash trail for accounting purposes.

There is not a single act out there who is able sell each and every single ticket for every show while touring on this massive scale. It doesn't really matter much as long as the band and everyone else involved is making profit in the end. As long as there is enough demand for a Bon Jovi show in a certain market to make money, they will continue to perform there.

You can get an idea of how Bon Jovi attendance numbers at a particular venue compare with other artists performing at the same venue by checking out Billboard or Pollstrar stats. As for the "sold out" shows, if I recall correctly, this practice was originally started by U2 after playing stadiums on the U.S. leg of the Zoo TV tour which did not sell well. In show business, "perception" is more important than reality.

A fact. Stop making conclusions from the videos you've seen. People left the stadium after Prayer.

It would be 1/3 empty if they didnt sell any ticket to the seating area. In that stadium 2/3 of the ticketsales comes always from the standing area cause it is so small stadium
