Actually I do sympathize. I had a short show for the one venue I attended but the difference is that I have an opportunity to see them again anywhere on the West Coast this fall if I want to whereas Bon Jovi never tours your country and the economics meant a huge commitment/sacrifice on your part. I would have been very disappointed if I were in your shoes. I wish it had played out differently for you but as has been discussed before, it is a crap shoot when you go to a Bon Jovi concert in terms of length (even w/o the allergies).

Dear Seb,

I may have overreacted big time with this. For what is worth, I am not doing this because I enjoy it. As a matter of fact, I expected that I would get over it much more quickly than it actually turned out. I am going to stop complaining about it right now. You will no longer have a deja vu all over again.
Even if you might not believe it, I am a genuine fan who has been following the band since 1997. Yet, I only saw them live twice because my pocket is not deep enough. I should have emigrated long time ago just like a lot of my friends did, but that's off topic.
What I really want to say right now is that when I came across this forum 10 years ago, I really wanted to lead normal discussions and make a lot of friends here. So far, I have failed to achieve either goal. Instead, I have become subject to be poked fun at. This is not I wanted, this is not what I am here for. I guess it's now too late for changing that.

Nevertheless, I will try to give high-quality posts which will be adding real value to the discussions on this forum. Maybe this way I will regain respect.

Oh, I believe you are a real fan as much as I am, but if you'd like to be part of real discussions I recommend actually posting in them without constantly bringing up the Sofia debacle. Like I (probably) said before, I understand your frustration. Although not the same, I've seen multiple shows for which I shelled out a lot of money and was then let down by Jon's lack of motivation, so I get the feeling of being let down by this band one way or the other.

As for the rest, many people poke fun at others here, it's part of Jovitalk. Learn to deal with it, not everything is meant to harm you, there's a fair bit of sarcasm going around here as well, and those capable of dealing with that are often the ones who stick around as well while the ones posting with a hidden agenda of really trying to put someone down disappear after a year or so.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

The band didn't axe the Glasgow show - they played just over two hours - but there was no apparent reason for that other than the empty stadium - they came on late, Jon wasn't sick as he clearly was in Sofia and it hadn't been pissing it down with rain as it was at the shorter Hampden show in 2008.

You got an apology from Jon at Sofia - I don't know what else he could have done at that show.

Saying what...different audience, artists generations apart, one has toured nowhere near as much as the other, and not even the same genre of music. You can't really compare the two.

Then who can you actually compare Bon Jovi to when it comes to acts who played there the past 10 years?

Red Hot Chili Peppers? One of the biggest bands out there with an indie touch, sold it out.

Madonna? Biggest pop star out there with an audience not used to festival setups, sold it out with ease.

The Rolling Stones? Biggest rock band out there with an audience that usually consists of 50+ year olds also not used to a festival setup. Sold it out with ease.

Oasis? Indie band that sold out Slane in 3 hours despite having played in front of 30.000 people in Belfast a year earlier.

Kings Of Leon? A relatively new band, sold out Slane in 40 minutes.

You tell me.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

well...i think we can compare them with U2 - the only band to headline Slane twice in the same year. Sold out within 45 minutes. *facepalm* maybe we shouldn't compare them

No, you shouldn't, especially considering that U2 tour a lot less frequently than Bon Jovi and those Slane shows were their only shows that tour in Ireland (their homeland), plus their first shows there in over 4 years.

Got to say there was more than 45K at Slane. I would have put it closer to 60-65k based on seeing the crowd and having been there before.
