I'm not a fan of his music either but when talking about setlists he knows how to satisfy everyone, including the die hards. The same goes for Pearl Jam, I ****ing despise most of what they have released but they do know how to treat there audiences.

It's because Bon Jovi have focussed on the average Joe in the crowd the past 10 years that people on here say we shouldn't expect a varied setlist because Bon Jovi have way more hits than Pearl Jam or Springsteen do, but Springsteen and Pearl Jam still don't play all their hits either.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Agree 100% they have more hits than most rock bands and don't need to try including them all, just rotate some. Play either Bad Medicine or I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, but not both. I also used to like the way they built some songs up like Wanted, see Live In London 1995 for example.

5 new songs
6 album tracks
10 hits
2 Rare songs
1 Cover version

24 songs, what is wrong with that?

One day my friend, you will learn.

Hell, one of Bruce's biggest songs - Born In The U.S.A. - is pretty much a rare song these days and everyone leaves more than satisfied.

I wouldn't give a toss if Jovi left out Prayer, it's Bad Name I'd hate for them to leave out

Oli, I've still probably listened to more Springsteen than you ever have was also at the listening party for the rising in the stone pony. But I STILL don't see the appeal. Best song is Born To Run acoustic. Like Ghost Of Tom Joad but Rage Against The Machine's version is better.

That's just a big bowl of wrong.

I can't fathom your reasoning, unless of course you have no soul. That would explain it.

According to last.fm I've listened to this much Bruce THIS YEAR ALONE SINCE JANUARY:

Bruce Springsteen: 11,561
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: 1,111
Bruce Springsteen With The Sessions Band: 206

Have you listened to him that much in your life?

Very envious about you being at The Rising listening party though - how did you manage that?!

Maybe I sold it to the devil

but Springsteen just doesn't move me. Some story about some girl called Mary and her man wanting to get out of the same broken old town seems to pretty much cover half of Springsteen's work. If I want deep lyrics that move me I'll listen to the Counting Crows (they do a bit of Thunder Road in one of their songs though)

Oh and my mum's a Springsteen fan Oli, so yeah, I've had about 30 years of hearing him.

It doesn't cover half his work <_< And I relate to those ones anyway! Hell, I relate to most of his stuff in one way or another. Bruce's songs are like a photoalbum for me, I can listen to a song of his and it'll remind me of a time in my lil short life so far.

And didn't Counting Crows write Accidentally In Love? Very deep and moving Although I actually really enjoy that song when I listen to it so I'll let it go

Lmao, your going to pick ONE song out of a band's entire catalogue. They also covered Big Yellow Taxi if your going down that route

Anyway my point is I'm getting bored of all the Bruce references too. Not everyone thinks Springsteen is God. While I respect him as an artist, he just does very little for me and I find his song's quite tedious a lot of the time.

I'm saying it all in jest It's the only song I know by them and I actually like it and learned it on guitar, so I guess I like the band if anything

And you know I like you anyway mate, I'm not trying to demean your taste or anything.
