Not that I'm going but I have to agree, I mean wouldn't everyone be bitching if they did NOT do anything at all. As long as fans want to see them and they want to play does the motive really matter.

This is a strange place at times: So the band does a couple of one-off shows this summer, and people complain?!?

We are like addicts... well, I'll speak for myself. I need a break but I am not strong enough to push away my plate and get up from the table. So I am depending on them to keep me from spending way too much money for 2 hours of entertainment, plus travel, etc.

Also, as a fan, I realize that they need a break. We all have different opinions about all their albums, but (speaking for myself) I thought both LH and the Circle (not to mention the four new songs on GHs) showed little resemblance of the band that I hand picked as my favorite band 17 years ago. There are good and bad songs on every album, but lately there seems to be more of the latter. But with every album/ tour I invest more and more in this band. Thus, feeling entitled to hear my favorite songs in concerts. And when buying a cd from this band, I expect to hear the amount of effort they put out in the 90s.
The abundance of filler is something I'd be able to forgive if I saw that they were putting out a little effort. But when they no longer demo or take the time to craft a song, it becomes way too easy to use the same formula. Which leads me back down from the soapbox back to "What about Now."

phil and bobby can pick up any one off gigs that conflict with richie's solo touring schedule

ticket sales prove the public doesn't notice or mind at all

If I wasn't a fan who knew better things were coming, songs 2-4 would make me think I was going to be in for a suck-fest of a concert. Jon really needs to drop WWBTF. It wasn't a big hit and it doesn't particularly resonate with the fans in any great way and it's just not a very good song. I hope there's something on the new album that takes its place. BTBMB is just tired, especially in that same spot all the time.

I agree that they are tired to us, but Bad Name and Born to Be My Baby are 2 of their biggest hits, so they're gonna be appreciated by the crowd.

But I agree with Born to Follow. I don't mind the studio version, but it's such a bore live.

Any sighting of Saturday Night is good, though.

Totally agree on that one!

I've never thought Bad Name or BTBMB live versions live up to the studio versions of the songs and with most of Bon Jovi's catalogue, I think the live versions are better or at least as good as the studio versions.

I still remember the first time I heard a live cut of Bad Name on the radio. It was the first live track I ever heard by the band and I was horrorstruck that they might actually suck as a live band. I've never been a fan of it live.
