Richie def played a slightly different solo than on the record so you would assume he was live.

best performance of song so far..... As it was an international celebration I think its the kind of event JBJ now thrives off.

I remember Jon chipping that piece of wall 20 yrs ago...

I'd say it's playback but taken from another performance, vocals live. It wasn't studio recorded.

The vocals were from a live playback, jesus it's pretty obvious.

Hmmm, that was pretty weird. There were some parts that were definitely 100% live, no doubt about it but then there were other parts that LOOKED like Jon was miming to a live playback. The could simply be some sort of timing issue with the video posted though. I don't know. They came across really well though and what an amazing honor for them to be there and perform.

Don't think they were actually there on Nov 9 1989 but a bit later in Nov/Dec and were hacking pieces from off the wall. It took some time to get the whole wall down....

I'm pretty sure he wasn't there when the wall fell on November 9th.
He was there weeks later.

They were in Berlin in early December 1989. Jon even sprayed "12-89" on the wall.

And, fans who were there assumed that Jon sounded like singing live. Judging from the broadcast it's not easy to say, but I'm pretty sure it was live. It was the first time he delivered an apropriate vocal performance thought, all the others were pretty lame. Dave, Huge and Tico were playback, not sure about Richie though, I think the solo sounded slightly different in one place.
