Default BJ start tour in October

Bon Jovi Bring the Rock

Upcoming album is heavy on the guitars

When Bon Jovi played the tenth anniversary party for Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Saturday night, they looked backed fondly, treating the star-studded audience -- featuring fellow rockers Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn of Linkin Park, Mike Einzinger of Incubus and Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains -- to a greatest-hits set in a specially constructed venue in the venue's parking lot.
But now the New Jersey rockers are getting ready to move forward, as they plan to release their new album in September. Collaborating with songwriter/producer John Shanks (Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette), Bon Jovi have finished thirteen tracks, and may add a few more.

"It's a heavy record," guitarist Richie Sambora says. "There are lots of guitars -- I'll tell you that, man."

The lead single is called "Have a Nice Day," but Sambora warns not to be fooled by its friendly title, describing it as "very Clint Eastwood." The guitarist cites "Welcome to Wherever You Are" as another favorite.

Bon Jovi plan to get back on the road in October to support the fall release, after they take the summer off. "We're gonna just hang with our families," Sambora says.

The guitarist will also use the downtime to get cracking on his next solo album, with help from some country folk. "I'm slated to write with Joe Don [Rooney] from Rascal Flatts, and I'm supposed to get together with Jo Dee Messina," he says. "I've also been talking to Kenny Chesney. I'm trying to branch out. That's what keeps you evolving . . . and I think that's part of the secret to our success."

Aloha !

I think the album will not be heavy, the tour will suck and the setlists will be boring. Go on Bon Jovi, surprise me.

I don't know ....I have big hopes that the cd will be a great one but I know I will be happy even with a "regular" one because Jovi is Jovi for me and it's just enough (I am not too picky or too demanding about the music style I can love it even if it's not very rock) but I will be demanding and picky about the ***Tour*** ... I would love a *world tour* and I would love to be sure we will be also PART OF THE FUN if we are not USA located (with a special mention for the north east )and so far nothing at all is confirming that

I dont think we can expect a 'Tour' as such. I think what they mean is a Promotional Tour, so maybe a few club gigs or TV specials.

So basicly what you're saying is that you don't mind if the album will suck just like Crush and Bounce did because it's Bon Jovi?

There was a big world tour planned for the boxset and the new album together, this was also the reason why suddenly all the summer tourdates for Europe were cancelled before they were anounced. Let's just hope that they'll release that the world is bigger than Japan, Europe and North America. Jon's theory about "we're playing for the same amount of people because we're playing bigger stadiums, but we're doing a smaller tour" is unfair to the rest of the fans that haven't seen the band for 10 years now.

It's not true either by the way.

Sebastiaan

I see your point .. but that's just me I mean I might just WON'T SEE IT if it sucks just because my "it sucks" censor doesn't work well when Jovi is involved (I said maybe ...)I think like you that Crush and Bounce weren't their best albums but i'd go for it happily IF they give me a decent tour .... I will chose the tour more than the album quality ... bon jovi is for me a BAND that shows its quality and superiority LIVE

about the tour I have to be honest I am VERY WORRIED they might just DROP half the world they used to tour ...I am afraid they just will tour like Aerosmith (as a big band but smaller bands like the GOO GOO DOLLS do that too) and go for a world tour almost JUST AMERICAN ... so if you think Seb, that Europe and Japan and the usa are not the world (you are right !! ) you might be surprised to see them show us the world is basically something like North America only ...(how many times have I heard lately as a reply to that "AREN'T THEY AN AMERICAN BAND ? " (like what I say was an offense ) but yes they are an american band they have always been so why should the tour shrinks NOW as their outside the usa markets are not worse than the usa one on the contrary )
I have no proof but I know like you than tour dates have been cancelled several times in Europe BUT they seem to have been rescheduling the tour in the usa though they HAVE NOT DONE anything like that in europe for now

ps if it's bad english with typos don't be too tough ok ? ( I re-read 3 times )

Please.... they don't even tour most of the United States. They play the Northeast and the northern mid-west with a few random dates in other regions. Try being a Bon Jovi fan in the Southeast or the Pacific Northwest. Or even in California or Texas where you can be two days drive time from city in your state that they do play.

I don't even care so much about the tour anymore. I'm resigned that if I see Bon Jovi, I'll have to go to Atlanta or Dallas or some other major city hundreds or thousands of miles from my home. I hope the CD is good and I'll probably get to go to one or two shows I'll be booking a flight to get to them because there's no way in hell they'll ever play in the heart of the Southeast. It's just the way it will be. Some things never change.

If they don't tour your countries you're left with an album that sucks. You need a good album for a good tour. During the last tours the show fell flat when the new songs were introduced, with the exceptions of 3 songs. Hook Me Up, Bounce and Distance. Undivided only got a great crowd reaction because of the sing along ending but was played too slow to be fully entertaining. The songs from Crush didn't bother the crowd that much during the Crush tour, with only a few exceptions.

The setlists, and therefore the concerts will only get better if they start playing good new songs, and something like that can only be done with a good album. A good album makes a tour better.

To me it looks like you only care about a new album if there's a new tour. That makes it look like you don't care about the album at all, just as long as they tour. You'd just go and see them live, even if they'd play the same stuff every time again. It doesn't matter what the album sounds like, it doesn't matter what the tour will be like, you'll be buying it anyway and going anyway. Just because it's Bon Jovi? Fans like you is exactly what makes Bon Jovi think that the current way they're going is the right way...

I don't think the canceled European dates have got anything to do with the American shows. The entire European tour was canceled. We don't know the reason, maybe Jon will tell us in the future, maybe he won't. You seem to be a little bittered about them doing promo shows in the USA but nothing in Europe.

I understand what you mean, and I agree, it's unfair. I'm not complaining about them doing Holland each tour, but it's unfair to countries who haven't seen them for 10 years now while they could easily sell out concerts in India and South America. A big leg in South America would be one that would make them money, and would satisfy a lot of fans. They could do it before starting the big North American leg, and take a month or 2 rest before starting the last leg. I just don't understand why they don't do it. The fans in Brazil have been very, very loyal.

And Becky, travelling from one state to another is still cheaper (I know, it costs a lot of money!) than from India to Japan.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Oh, I agree. It would suck to be a Bon Jovi fan in Australia or South America or parts of Asia.

Their tour history is why I'm more insterested in a great CD than a tour. The CD is something I can listen to whenever I want.

i think it's rather strange that they appearantly plan to come to europe next spring/summer for there's the soccer world championships in germany which is behind japan their biggest market. maybe they're the "official band of the WC 06" which means many many many shows (pre-game/after-game) and much promotion
but for now i honestly don't think bout the tour... kinda too far off... i'm eager to hear the new album- they said before crush and bounce that the album's gonna rock and none of them did- so it's kinda hard to believe that the new stuff is gonna rock. have a nice day seems to be "it's my life part III" and what i heard of who says.... (meaning 40 seconds in kousy quality) doesn't make me jump for joy, too... let's wait & see
