A good support band is great a getting the crowd going with a couple of sing alongs and can lend greatly to the atmosphere for the main band.
I don't get the whole big deal about support acts.
I pay to see the main act, I really don't care about who supports them. If they are a good band, yes I will acknowledge that, and it is a great opportunity for anyone, but I am just as happy to do without one.
In Japan they don't have support acts and the build up and excitement is just the same as if they had had someone play 20 minutes before them.Maybe it is different here, but most people aren't even in their seats when the support is on.

I agree with Brian, it looks like they're on panic mode. They could get a support act for a few of the dates but not for all of them so they went back on their "we'll get an unsigned band to open for them" route.

A pub band before the real support is cool, but most pub bands don't actually realise they have to entertain the audience and just play their songs and that's it. There hasn't been a single pub band on the HAND and LH tour that was phenomenal. Bon Jovi has been known to shut down a few amps and make the sound deliberately worse compared to them so that if the support act might be able to blow them away they won't get the chance to do so.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

What would happen if you were the band that won it and after the first song you went into Bon jovi cover mode, how far ino the 3rd song do you think you be able to get before you get shut down?

I said I thought they weren't in Panic mode.
Frankly, I think way too much is being made of this. They lined up known openers, who weren't available on all dates, so they're doing this to fill it out. Does it really matter? I mean, it's an opener. Sure, I was over the moon when AAR opened for them, but in the grand scheme, you're paying for the main act.

Hey when the other two choices are Kid Rock and OneRepublic I'd rather take my chances on the pub band to be honest.

Nice !

I prefer unsigned bands over shitty popular bands opening for Bon Jovi.

Best regards,

Fancy teaming up?

We can be called Spoon & Comb or Spomb or Spoony & The Comb experience or Spoon and the comb sing the greatest hits of Barry Manillow in the style of Red Indians through bassons while eating the orange bits out of Jaffa Cakes.

We'd blow those Bon Jovi kids off the stage.
