BON JOVI & FORT MONMOUTH, NEW JERSEY

(Monday, October 24, 2005)
BON JOVI spent much of last week sequestered at the EXPO THEATRE on the FORT MONMOUTH Army Base in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. The band REHEARSED for the upcoming HAVE A NICE DAY tour in the small theatre to empty seats. But after several days of rehearsals, it was time to say THANK YOU to the military personnel and staff on base who welcomed them to the theatre and to the Army and Cadets as well... so at the end of Saturday's band rehearsals, those military personnel stationed on the base, as well as their families, and the soldiers and cadets were invited back to the theatre for a mini-Bon Jovi concert...

It was laid back and lowkey and a lot of fun. Here's what was performed:

LAST MAN STANDING
YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME
WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME
BORN TO BE MY BABY
STORY OF MY LIFE
HAVE A NICE DAY
THE RADIO SAVED MY LIFE TONIGHT
IT'S MY LIFE
LAST CIGARETTE
I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD
RAISE YOUR HANDS
LIVIN' ON A PRAYER

The the band came back on stage and performed two more songs:
TREAT HER RIGHT
BAD MEDICINE
The band headed off for the night and the cadets remained in the theatre doing cadences... All in all, a great experience for everyone. Look for footage... the band allowed ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT into the theatre. Except for the band's own cameras and the military cameras, ET were the only folks who got an interview with Jon and Richie and grabbed footage of the invite only gig.

-------

Ugh, Bad Medicine is still there. Still, for a show to an audience like this I wouldn't have expected to see any rarities like Dry County.

I'm psyched to see Last Cigarette and Story Of My Life on there - Chances are good we should get those on the set list I guess.

Bad Medicine will always be there. It's a classic.

A boring classic. I know hat your saying though. Still if there going to play it, how about shaking it up (pardon the pun) by letting Richie sing some of it, put early in the set, doing it TLFR style. Somthing other then the last song of the night.

Nice to see Prayer rounding out the set.

Oh, absolutely. I would LOVE to see them open a show with Bad Medicine. However, if I never hear anything live TLFR style, it'll be just fine with me. I think Prayer should be either first, last (before) encore, or actual encore. I never felt as though it fit as 4th or 5th song.

I agree. It's a great opener but it would be shit if they always opened with it. Last song of the set or the last song of the night would definitely be the best place for it, I just doubt if Jon will leave it that late in the set once they're out on tour.

So from the new album we got:
LAST MAN STANDING
WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME
STORY OF MY LIFE
HAVE A NICE DAY
LAST CIGARETTE

That isn't too bad, at least we don't get Wildflowers, BOF, Welcome To Wherever You Are.

I'm glad that Treat Her Right seems to replace Shout. Now if only they could replace Sleep When I'm Dead, I'll be set. I'm surprised that Raise Your Hands seem to be a permanent fixture in the set. Back in OWN tour, this song was cool. In Bounce tour it was ok, but now, I'd rather hear some other album track.

Bad Medicine will always be there. I hope when they 'shake it up' they don't do it TLFR style. TLFR is crap. Actually opening the show with Bad Medicine would be kinda nice, we can get it out of the way.

I agree - Though I'd really like to hear I want to be loved and I am as well.

Also, yeah - Raise Your Hands is no longer the treat it once was. Every now and then is OK, but maybe throw I'd Die For You in a bit more often, or another album track from New Jersey.
